Solomon is 2 years 1 month (on the 6th of May)

He always takes off his clothes or the ones I put on him get dirty so we take them off or his pants get caught on his foot and he steps on them so he just removes them completely.  His newest thing is to have one arm up through the neck hole of his shirt, it's like he's wearing a one sleeved shirt with his shoulder all exposed.

He cannot smile for a picture without cocking his head to the side and flashing a cheesy grin.
He likes to say, "no" a lot.  It's not an assertive no, it's almost said in a singing way that's higher pitched.  He will fold his arms and turn away after he says it though.

He loves baby dolls and will hold them and cuddle them and carry them around.  He does this with the girls' baby Belle and baby Cinderella.

He loves to wrestle with me, lay all over me, cuddle with me in my bed, sit in my lap, and always find a way to be underfoot.
He plays so perfectly on the steps of any pool.  He will turn around and put his leg in the pool and if he can't touch he gets up off his tummy and goes to another spot, testing the waters.  Smart little fellow.

He prays always, no matter whose turn it is to pray, he prays too.  When we bow our head for prayer at church, he prays too.  He doesn't verbalize his prayers for us to understand.  They are a high pitched song/hum said with folded arms, bowed head, and end with an audible AMEN.
He speaks so much, and we do a pretty good job of understanding him.

He is clumsy and slow on walks.

He likes to do things so we let him be in charge on some things.  Things like when we press play on a movie in the car, it can only be done if HE says "press play."  When Daddy and Aimi Lark leave for school, he MUST be the last one to say goodbye and the one to close the door upon their exit.  I've never been a fan of Jake's family rule of "keep the little ones happy" but sometimes it's just easier and makes sense.  I thought it was raising a bunch of spoiled youngins, but I realize now it teaches the older kids too.  It also worked well for them I bet because there was always a new "little one" so the "little one" soon had to be an older one to keep the new little one happy.
He will ask me for a "nack" every few minutes.  To him a snack is any food at any time of day, all day.

He says his "S" sound like an "H" sound.  "ha-free Mom" is "Sorry Mom"  I asked him his name and he said, "H-mun"
He got new sandals and calls them his "bumble bee" shoes.  They are gray and yellow like his rescue bot and Daddy's transformer   If he sees a yellow vehicle on the road he will shout "bumble bee car" until I acknowledge him.
He has blond hair, medium blue eyes, and a smaller frame.  I wonder what his size will be like.  He measured 35 inches on his 2nd birthday, 1 inch shorter than Malachi did on his.  I don't put much stock in those predictions but it's fun to speculate.

He still calls them "brother and girls" even though now he sometimes uses their real names.

He is our toddler but still very much our baby.  We love to hold his tiny body in our arms and soak him in, cuddle him close.

I love to hear him laugh as we pretend our hands are making biting/gnashing/monster sounds at each other.

I feel so bad when he tells me "eye hurt" and I want nothing more for him to be able to tell me how he sees through those thick glasses of his.

I love asking him where something is and he says, "OH!" and runs off quickly to retrieve it.

I love that when he acts a fool I just sigh and say, "he's 2" because he is just that, he's 2.  With that comes tantrums and laughs and discovery of life.
I love my baby boy.
I love the little brother he is to Malachi.
I love to watch the girls take care of him.
I just love him so and can't get enough of his firm closed mouth kisses.
Solomon Roy, you are our little boy.

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
