Chocolate Cupcake Muffins

We made chocolate muffins/cupcakes this week.  The kids love adding the ingredients. I answered the phone while they were licking the bowl and turned my back.  Heard Malachi calling my name and saw him proudly standing with his sister's hand prints on his chest and his back covered in chocolate.  The boys LOVED the bath water that looked like chocolate milk.  Mali Su hurried and bathed so she could watch the muffins bake. *flax was used in substitute for eggs so no children were harmed during the licking of the bowl A funny: Yesterday Malachi tells me from the backseat, "I laughed in Spanish, it sounds like this, CUATRO!" Mali Su then yells out, "Cuatro is FOUR in Spanish."
I am making KALE chips this morning in an effort to find something else to dip my salsa in.  I have a chips and dip OBSESSION and the salsa is healthy, so now I need a healthy DIPPING tool.  We'll see... Jake has his first final tonight.  I wish he had been able to study more for it, but he always does well on these things. I sent out Christmas cards this year in 3 waves according to sales and when I got addresses.  YET, I still have not received the one I sent myself from the company online who addresses them for you. We have a health screening coming up at the end of Dec. for life insurance and I'm scared.  I am no where near my ideal weight.  So frustrating. We are going to CHILE.  Is it odd I'm excited to be on a plane for that long with JUST my husband?  That right there will feel like a date! I wrapped the kids' presents on Monday.  I was having a lot of customer service issues and paperwork galore so I decided to stop it all ...

Thanksgiving in GA

I remembered the video camera charger but not the digital camera charger so here's the run down from my cell phone. We had a great turkey bowl.  We read lots of books at the Shillig 1 house.  Mandi setup a LOVELY spread!  Jake's touchdown to win the first round was called back due to the other team calling that he stepped out, but you can clearly see (by my cell pic of the video footage that I shot) that he was IN with BOTH feet.  They replayed this for FOUR downs before scoring the winning touchdown AGAIN satisfying the WHINIEST team I've ever seen.  Jake and I went on a little day-date to see TWILIGHT (very romantic) and saw the Budweiser Clydesdale horses in the Commissary parking lot.  The whole house was ROWDY and WRESTLING so Jake did what he does sometimes with our kids and had them all sit while he counted to 100.  You know, like take a deep breath and count to ten?  Well kids (at le...

Gratitude Day 19- Jake's Grandma Audrey

Today is Jake's Grandma Audrey's birthday.  She is his Dad's Mother.  Until today I had only ever seen one picture of her.  I have heard very little about her, but I feel blessed to by her.  I am so truly grateful for the family I married into.  I love them.  I know they are not perfect, no family is, but I love all that I've learned from them.  Jake tells my girls about their wonderful Great Grandmothers (Audrey, Neville & my Grandma Sellers) who have passed on and who watch over them.  Jake's Aunt Stacey (my father in law's sister) sent me these photos and captions.   I am grateful for family history and the joy it brings to my heart when I learn about those that came before me.  It brings a smile to my face, and tonight tears to my eyes.  With her favorite necklace that her Aunt Eck gave her. She was about 14. Soon after she was married in 1950. She made the blue dress and that is the dress she wa...

Gratitude Day 17

Today I'm grateful for being able to make the right choice for me, even if it's hard. Like WAY hard. I always thought that when people stood up for what was right, even if it was hard, there was this overwhelming sense of pride so it didn't make doing the right thing so hard. I WAS WRONG. I really (really really really) want to run in this Disney Princess Half Marathon in February 2013.  It's all women and you run through DISNEY.  I have been working out and have looked up training schedules and all that jazz.  Then a few nights ago I thought, "Ok I'll sign up."  I texted Jake and he was on board.  Then I saw it. Race Day is on a SUNDAY. Recently there was an article from our Church reminding members about keeping the Sabbath day holy and avoiding shopping on Sunday and Sporting activities.  I have searched all day unable to find the article.  That article was referenced by my husband as well as the movie "Chariots of Fire" when I talke...

Gratitude Day 16- Brothers

Text from Jake read, "Put them to bed separate found them later on like this." (I was gone doing hair) Solomon is still in a crib, but I guess cuddling with Malachi was more appealing.  Maybe we'll move Solomon to the trundle sooner than I planned.  It would give them more room in their bedroom. I love that these boys have each other, just as the girls have one another.  I am so grateful for the bond they will have growing up and throughout their lives.  I sometimes wish they were a year apart like the girls but I know they are "best brothers." I love this picture.

Day 14- Grateful for an AMAZING Birthday

Yesterday was FULL of surprises for my 28th birthday.  After Jake spilled the beans the night before I was excited for the next day, but even more excited that I had no expectations.  I'm known to build things up in my head and *maybe* get disappointed when things don't go as I planned in my head.  Poor Jake, he handles it all so well.  I thought Jake had school and work so the idea of him HOME and then me getting to go to class with him means everything was a SURPRISE!  The pictures are from 2 phones and 2 cameras so they are all our of order.  I will just give you a run down of my day and let you enjoy the pictures and maybe try to fix them. 7AM I got to shower with no time frame and no rushing then hang out talking to my Dad and Sheila til Jake returns 8AM Jake takes the kids to Target to get himself an XBOX game and donuts for the kids 930AM my best friend here in Florida, Katie, walks in surprising me with a pret...
