Marianne and Caroline in Hollywood

After the beach we lounged by the pool before changing and heading out.  We had experienced IN N OUT so we then went for some FIVE GUYS and then I introduced her to See's Candies.  We made our way to see the Hollywood sign via the Griffith Observatory (in heels) but the view was a big disappointment.   If you look super close you can almost see the sign back there.  We then went to the walk of fame to see the stars.  It was a bit overwhelming with all the "hustlers" selling their CDs but we bought one, maybe he'll be famous!    Her hands were the same size as Harry Potter's!

Marianne and Caroline in Malibu

I have been wanting to explore beaches with rocks, caves, and cliff views.  I looked online and thought this one would be perfect for that.  This small beach is El Matador Beach in Malibu.  We got there early to make sure there was parking and we enjoyed our time.  We relaxed and then started walking and saw WHALES in the distance!  If you look closely you can see them.  We were so excited!    We found some small tide pools and enjoyed interacting with the sea anemones.    I love the beach and can't wait to explore more of all that CA beaches have to offer in variety. This getaway was just what our mom/friend hearts needed.

Marianne and Caroline in LA

I recently had a little getaway with my cousin/best friend, Marianne.  After some breakfast we stopped by the stunning Los Angeles LDS Temple.  It is smack dab in the middle of the city (but wasn't when it was built).    The grounds are beautiful and Marianne thought this looked like it was right out of a movie.  The Getty Museum was next on our list.  The views and exhibits were great to see.  We were finally able to get on an elevator so we celebrated.  There were so many school groups!  I had to say "be careful" in both Chinese and Spanish to different groups of kids.  Our next stop was the fancy Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills but we got lost and stumbled across our hometown name on a street sign!  Rodeo Drive was fancy for sure.  We were finally able to check into our fancy hotel with a view that Jake reserved for us.  We rounded out the night with some In N Out.

Final Day in DC

We went to Arlington to visit the grave of Jake's childhood neighbor/friend Cody. "Army Staff Sgt. Brian "Cody" Prosser was one of the first three war casualties, and thus the first soldier from California killed, in Afghanistan in the fight against terrorism begun after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 "      We met up with my Orlando friend Emily after some sightseeing and before our flight.    This trip to DC was just what I needed.  Some great time with my dear husband. I can't wait til our next adventure together.
