Aimi Lark finishes preschool

Her summer program ended with a little cap and gown. I'm so glad she had fun.  She liked school but didn't quite get that she went everyday.  Some days she would tell us when getting ready, "but I went to school yesterday." They had a gym class once a week and they always let us know she was a natural at it. She will be doing kindergarten through Florida virtual school in the fall. We love you Aimi Lark!

3am

That's when Solomon got up today.  Since we don't want to wake Beau's roommate my amazing husband took Solomon on an adventure.  Then at 5:30am I took Beau to work, had ice cream for breakfast thanks to a navy base drive thru, and now I'm sitting outside while Solomon runs around like this is totally normal.  Look how cute he is checking out this bug as he says, "wow" like it's the coolest thing ever.

Norfolk,Virginia

That's where we've been all week.  We leave tomorrow.  It's been great visiting Beau in his element but real life for us hits hard next week with Jake starting back teaching and fall semester of law school.  More on Norfolk to come so stay tuned.

Brothers

I walked by the boys in the living room and Malachi says, "Mom, Solomon says HI like this" and he then goes on to say, "Hi" in a high sweet little voice. Then Malachi says to Solomon,  "Solomon say poop" and clear as day he says, "poooop" in an almost higher pitched singing voice. Thanks Malachi.   I guess brothers will be brothers and Mothers have to be mothers and correct them.

Solomon thinks he's a big kid.

He gets all setup to watch Disney with the others.  I don't have the heart to tell him he only has the attention span of a goldfish.

Aftermath of

Slicked back hair for church. Daddy slicked back his, Malachi's, and Solomon's hair for church. After a nap, Malachi has this 'do.

Her obsession

Frogs that come into our pool area. We're going to have to get her a job at animal kingdom.

Helping daddy

That's what Solomon does. I'm rearranging my house people. Hopefully it rocks.

At our Hotel

I already want another getaway,  I've got issues.   But with a sweet husband like mine can you blame me? We're starting INSANITY tomorrow,  together. I unpacked today from key west.  Maybe tomorrow I'll unpack from the Bahamas. I'm sitting on Malachi's bed with him as he drifts off to sleep.  His face just went from serious to sweet dreams. Jake worked on letters to friends in Chile today in preparation for our December trip. The relief society presidency I was in was released last week so not having any responsibilities today was different.   Then Jake had me sub for the 12-18 year old Sunday school class.  He quizzed a few of the kids after class and they knew what the lesson was about so I didn't completely fail. Brody is preparing to receive his patriarchal blessing.   I'm so excited for him, he's an amazing young man. I'm going to plant squash and zucchini tomorrow in my garden.   I think I'll do that after giving Bro...

A day on the boat

Not our boat, the navy let us rent it from them. Jake took the kids out on the ocean for 8+ hours.  They brought back so many colorful fish.  After lots of cleaning fish and cooking them up everyone feasted. More to come, key west rocks!

My Brother Dillon

He's doing some good stuff in good ol' Louisiana. He has paid off his truck and works with soil samples,  it's all fancy and technical so don't ask me the real name. It was fun to see him and eat some yummy boudin at his work BBQ. I'm off to Texas for a girls' weekend at my bestest friend /cousin's wedding, only 4 hours til V-town.

They love the pool,

Can't you tell by their faces?  They love when the big kids splash them, NOT!

Malachi is 3 years old

But is the size of our 4 year old. He shared cupcakes with his sisters for a delicious breakfast. Tonight we'll have a party but til then he's playing with his airplane daddy got him.

Soldier Party

Fun in the sun after 2 weeks of military training.

A moment to last

A lifetime. I'm blessed. The rain is pouring down, lightning all around.   Absent is loud thunder.   I'm listening to everyone breathe as they sleep soundly in our cozy hut on the lake. Jake and I just watched the movie The Vow, perfect ending to a wonderful day. Now I too will drift off into dreamland, for tomorrow we play.

Drillcation with my love

Picture taken the morning of mother's day.   We shared a lawn chair on the sandy shore of the lake. I love him.   Even if he never orders his own dang fries and eats mine.  I love him. ALL I can think about is our cruise in July.   It's so exciting and new and a grand adventure.   I love adventures. To quote Taylor swift, "life makes love work hard."  Marriage is work,  there's no doubt.  I love every moment of it.

Silly sisters

Aimi Lark said to Mali Su, "Your hand smells like germs, you better go clean it." I heard this from them in the backseat. Funny stuff.

Malachi

Walks like a penguin in the lake sand.  He deemed the black dirt he just found to be penguin footprints. He turns three on Saturday. He's asked mia for a chuck e cheese party,  lucky boy. He tells me I'm beautiful all day, every day. I probably baby him more than I should, but he'll only be little for so long. He is quite the name caller despite my repeated scoldings.  Slow-poke is his current choice in name calling.   Normally said while laughing and running away from his siblings. Sadly, he can dish it but doesn't take it very well. He loves to do cannon balls in any water he finds. He will sing "happy birthday to your body" all crazy like uncle Luke.

New hair

Lots of highlights,  sits just past my shoulders. My girls start voice lessons next week and I'm thrilled.   I can't carry a tune in a bucket (unless I've heard the song a thousand times before) so I'm excited to help my girls not have my "problem." Solomon refused to nurse the last four times I tried.   Guess we're done or he's well on his way to weaning himself.   Either way, I'll take it! It's rained pretty much non stop since yesterday.   I normally love rain but would rather be swimming in the lake than watching cartoons in the cabin all day. The girls got pretend bow and arrows.   Now Jake wants them in archery.  I just think of catniss from hunger games and the girls quote the new Disney movie Brave. Solomon is a really obedient little boy.  It sometimes surprises me the commands he understands and follows.   I got to oovoo (like Skype) with my mom, Beau, and Brody yesterday.   It was way fun....

An unexpected donation

Of my hair. After realizing I wanted about 4 inches off I just told her to cut 8 inches to donate.   The braid looks more like 13 inches to me. Jake LOVES my hair.  I like it a lot, still adjusting, I just think I thought after donation I'd still have more hair than I do.   But it looks really great, my hair is so thin since having Solomon. Aimi Lark was confused as to why I cut it because in her world boys have short hair and girls have long hair.  After the donation explanation she was good.  She asked me if aunt Kaylene cut her hair like mine to give to a little girl. My phone only lets me post one picture at a time so the after picture will have to wait.   I got more highlights too, yay!
