2lbs of Motivation

I was down two pounds this morning.  Not huge, but just what I needed to feel motivated.  It's hard eating right and exercising and the scale not moving.  It made me want to say, forget it.   NOW I can feel good and keep going. It's been chilly here this week.  I am loving being able to put Aimi Lark in colorful tights.  It is helping me with the dislike I have for school uniforms.  She just looks so cute when she's all colorful. Yesterday my kids DID NOT nap.  It was almost enough for me to fall over in the middle of the day.  I thought it would work out well so I could have them in bed by 6.  It all went according to plan, but at 3pm the kids yelled out for me to come look.  I found this cutest boy crashed on the floor.  Then this morning the boys discovered the girls' horses they got a couple Christmases ago from my Paw Paw Kirbow.  It made for great fun.  Now it's naptime and my kids are down ...

Yesterday

Before school I caught these two cuddling on the couch watching a movie.  I had to quickly change Aimi Lark into pants and a coat when we realized it was 54 degrees outside.  That's a 40 degree drop overnight if felt like.   Mali Su loves to do homework when Aimi Lark does so yesterday I decided to have learning time with worksheets like Aimi Lark has while Aimi Lark is at school.  She loved it.  Her penmanship was impressive.  The boys of course couldn't be left out of this time I was having with Mali Su. They realized worksheets weren't their thing as there were no crayons to eat or throw so they went back to watch the movie.  Malachi yelled, "come take our picture!"  Then after naps Malachi made this SHIP, don't call it a boat I made that mistake. Then Daddy came home and Mali Su talked his ear off.  He listened to her tell him all kinds of details about her day.  She talked to him for ...

Solomon LOVES Walks

with Daddy.  Although lately I hear he falls a million times and Daddy ends up carrying him most of the way.

Carving & Painting Pumpkins

Jake carved the tiny pumpkins we got from the farm yesterday.  I thought they'd only be painted, but we did both!  Malachi had the HARDEST time taking the "guts" out of the pumpkin.    Solomon was so ready for bed when we did this.  I put him to bed in the middle of our activity.  Let the painting begin!  Jake loved yesterday and today he said.  Chasing chickens and painting pumpkins, just as much for Daddy as for the kids.  Look at that blank space in Aimi Lark's smile!  (Have I mentioned Malachi tells me he's Tarzan when I tell him to wear clothes?  Not a battle I care to fight yet.) When we came inside I went to check on Solomon and found this  when I opened his door.  Such a sweet little boy, all clean and smelling good after a long hard (no-nap) day. I doubt we trick or treat on Wednesday.  Jake has class and I am just not up to the task of traipsing...

Green Meadows Farm

While waiting on all our friends Jake put this lizard on Kendra's ear.  Mali Su had a melt down when Kendra let the lizard go (her Dad told her to).  Luckily Mali Su found another lizard that she was able to catch.  I was able to have her let it go when I told her she got to hold DUCKS!  On the hayride Aimi Lark followed Malachi's lead and "hay surfed."  No one got hurt, but we all laughed a lot.    The ducks were so HUGE in my kids' hands.  I thought maybe they'd get bit, but I think these ducks are used to all the attention they get from kids.  Solomon didn't hold a duck, but he did look at them.  My friend Katie organized the event and thankfully waited on us to have a free weekend to go. We listened to all the rules.  I was scared my kids would hurt the chickens, but they did great.  They got the hang of how to do it really quickly and loved it.  Solomon was helped to ho...
