I just need to brag a little...

See, I have this man in my life and he's awesome. Sometimes I'm not so nice to him.  Like tonight when I called him, I then hung up on him.  Can you say rude?  childish?  Yes, I'd have to agree with you.  Well logically I know he's awesome but that doesn't mean I'm not a tad cranky right now.  Just cranky enough to hang up on the poor fellow. So he comes home from teaching Chinese, Spanish, and Chess to JR HIGH kids and gives out all kinds of lovies.   On this night in particular (Friday) he does not have law school class at night so he is taking Malachi on a date.  Malachi woke up DRY this morning.  We have been regressing in the night time so we're excited for this little breakthrough.  He was on his best behavior all day long so Daddy promised him a date. Malachi wanted to wear his BYU jersey like Daddy and asked me to fix his hair.  He wanted me to comb it and put "jelly" and water in it.  I happily ...

Solomon is Almost 17 Months

He is a leg clinger, still, maybe even worse than ever. Don't judge and hopefully he forgives me for this when he's older but I have to let you in on a little secret.  Every time I go in a room I lock the door behind me because he can now open doors.  He chases after me, making this awful noise, begging for attention even if I was just holding him for an hour.  He's a clinger.  I don't need him following me into the bathroom or the office when I'll be in there for 2 seconds to grab something.  If I let him follow me in a room, he flips out when I make him leave, or destroys something in the 2 seconds he's in the room with me.  It's a vicious cycle that I am combating by sneaking or running in a room and locking the door behind me.  Just mentally picture it, it's quite humorous if you think about it.  He does cry outside the door for a second but then runs along to play. He likes to sit in your lap. He likes to lay on his tum...

Uniforms

are growing on me.  How could they not when she looks so cute? I asked her to wait before she left so I could take a picture.  I couldn't find the camera and told her to come in my room.  She told me she wanted to keep her pose.  Her pose?   Then after I took the picture, she ran over, looked at it and said, "It's perfect, save it." I just laughed. Later she asked if I saved it and put it on Facebook. Facebook, really? I told her, "No, but it will go on my blog." I don't know if I'm ready for her posing and knowing about Facebook. Oh dear.

Baby Chi (kai)

Malachi was Josh's little buddy back in the day in Utah. My sweet cousin Kayla sent me some picture from her wedding back in 2010. Speaking of 2010, I'm working on that blog book.  Yes folks, 2010, I'm THAT good. But check out these adorable pictures taken by my other cousin, Cari.  Thanks for emailing these to me Kayla!  He was a little off his game.  I tried to tell him he'd regret not living up to his best man duties for Josh, but nothing worked. Good thing Malachi was a cute almost 1 year old, right?

August 25th

is a BIG day around here. Beau turns 19  and  Jake celebrates 7 years in the Army. These two men are so important in my life. I feel like I've raised Beau. Jake is the love of my life. I am so grateful for both of them, for the men they are, and for the sacrifices they both make for our country. Sailors and Soldiers, dear to my heart.  Go out and celebrate boys! Hats off to y'all!

Solomon's First Dental Visit

No cavities. No tears, not even from Solomon. In and out in 30 minutes, yes I said 30 minutes. This dental office rocks, 3 hygienists working hard made for happy kids and a speedy visit. I love finding a dentist that you love!

Kindergarten Update

I had quite a few people worried about me after my first kindergarten post. THANKS Y'ALL! I am totally ok now.  I knew I would be, I just needed to adjust to feeling "kicked out" of kindergarten/my daughter's school life. Aimi Lark is AMAZING and has taken to kindergarten like a moth to a flame, just as we knew she would.  She has a THUMBS UP in her agenda (calendar) each day.  I know she'll have lots more of those in her future!  I'm so proud of her, and I love how much she loves school. I have asked Jake to take a personal day here and there to be a chaperone since it will be next to impossible for me to be.  I love that he takes her to school and picks her up and they get all that bonding time to and from school.  I love that my children have such an amazing father.   We are truly blessed! Bring on the rest of the year, we are on a roll!

Messes

This week has been quite the transition for us. I've spent my week doing things like vacuuming up a busted hacky sack from the Bahamas that the kids said, "Zelda did." putting all 10 seasons of FRIENDS DVDs back in their correct spaces that the kids said, "Solomon did" putting ALL the toys back on the shelf because Solomon actually did. Solomon is SO MESSY.  Mali Su calls him, "the DESTROYER" and I couldn't agree with her more.  I was paying bills in a room and came out after about 20 minutes and he had taken ALL the toys off the shelves and emptied ALL the drawers in the shrunk.  I dread cleaning him when he finishes eating.  This morning he had cereal on his forehead, lucky me. Malachi has taken up sleep walking/bed hopping in the NUDE.  Needless to say he's marked a few territories.  I don't know if we need to lock him in his room or what.  Add scrubbing furniture to my above mess cleaning routine and I'm all...

A Real Cool Place to be a KID!

That's at Chuck E. Cheese on a date with Dad. Jake likes to reward the children when they stand out.  Mali Su surely stood out when we had our running outing last week with Miss Lavonne.  Her hard work and determination did not go unnoticed by her loving father. We love you Mali Su!  Keep up that Olympic spirit!

Phone Life

I had a sleepover after the Jason Aldean concert because I was doing the hair the next morning at my friend Katie's house.  Needless to say, we had fun chatting til the break of dawn, literally. Sometimes me and this boy like to cuddle, and take pictures at night in his bed. Solomon is obsessed with wearing goggles when we go out to the pool.  He brings me pair, after pair, after pair.  He hands them to me, makes some kind of noise indicating I put them on his head, then runs away yelling, "BAAAAA!"  (read: cannonball)  Daddy talking to Aimi Lark the night before school after her blessing.  She's such a sweet girl!  I have made these little folders to hold the important stuff from each school year and I am putting a picture on the front, I'm thinking the beginning of each year.  It'll be fun to see the change.  Preschool grad pic was too cute, preschool was only 2 months long, and I started the folders just last week ...
