Rambling

Jake went back to work this week.  This week is in-service.  When he went back he discovered that there is an elementary school right next door to him and Aimi Lark could go there, so she will.  We have been so wishy washy with this whole public/home/online school ordeal.  I just like that we are blessed with so many options and can decide what works best for each of us.  Jake is so excited to have her along for the ride in the mornings and again in the afternoon with him.

I just mopped my floors and I think I used too much bleach, but man are the floors nice and sanitized.

My girls are still up, they're killing me.  No nap today and now they're pulling an all nighter?

I am feeling like a bit of a slacker these days.  I am constantly feeling like there aren't enough hours in the day and that I'm always dropping the ball somewhere.  I especially drop the ball when it comes to the post office so if you're expecting anything from me I plan (PLAN) on going Saturday.  Fingers crossed it happens.

I have been watching way too much Netflix this week.  Who knew it was so awesome?  Obviously not me.  I am actually surprised at myself.  I think I've watched more TV this week than all year combined!  I blame Jake's comfy recliner and fancy TV.

I ordered ribbon to make Aimi Lark and Mali Su new bows, they're in desperate need.  I've never made bows before so this could be a huge undertaking.  I figure if YouTube can teach you how to tie a tie, hot wire a car or dance the foxtrot it can teach me to make hair bows, right?

I am getting school uniforms together for Aimi Lark.  I am so not excited about her wearing uniforms.  I honestly think it is so lame.  I get clothes from my younger sister Delaney so having to go out and buy clothes for this is not exactly my thing.  She's all setup though so we'll see how I adapt to it once school gets going.

Did I mention I feel like I'm drowning?  I am good to tackle one huge project a day and then maybe a few minor ones but mostly I just feel like I am putting out flames.  I feel like I'm treading water sometimes and the things I get done are the same things every single day so it's not noticeable.  Well not noticeable to me at least, Jake always compliments the clean house and the yummy lunches I send him.  I sometimes think how much easier things were in Utah, in my condo, and the kids were tiny.  Who would have thought TINY kids were easier than the stage I'm at now?  I always thought babies were the hardest time, but I was blessed with good babies.  I have good kids, I guess I'm just adjusting to this stage.

My Mom and Brody moved back to Texas a couple weeks ago.  While I am super excited for them, I'm selfishly sad.  I miss Brody the most.  I left home after high school so in a way I feel I moved out and left my Mother's nest.  BUT BRODY, he's been my "child" for the last three years and him leaving home I was unprepared for, just as I felt when Beau left.  If I feel this way about my brothers I'm totally up a creek when it comes time for my own kids to go to BYU (yes I'm brainwashing them early).  I do feel blessed for Brody to be back in my hometown of Vidor, TX where I have plenty of eyes and ears to help me know what he's up to.  I feel blessed to have had my brothers live with us for those two years, it was an amazing journey.

For the first time in YEARS we have our home all to ourselves.  It's a strange adventure that we're excited to enjoy and getting used to.  Starting back when we moved to Utah in 2007 we've had people living with us on and off all these years.  Now it's just US!

Aimi Lark asks when she starts school with Daddy every single day.
Mali Su is still mega dramatic in the way that she speaks, using her hands and all.
Malachi is obsessed with 90s movies, Batman, Ernest, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the movie are at the top of his list.
Solomon likes to follow me around and stay underfoot when I'm in the kitchen.

I have been doing so much hair these days thanks to the boost in confidence from my friends Katie and Beth.  They spread the word in their awesome community and I've stayed quite busy.  I have even put myself out there to offer services, it's exciting!  I am gaining so much confidence in my abilities and using my skills makes me feel great.  The money is nice too, that's for sure!

My sister in law asked me today about THANKSGIVING plans and Jake bought the kids their HALLOWEEN costumes the other day at Costco.  Is it really that time of year again?  MAN!  Jake then reminded me he's starting his THIRD year of law school.  If he was a full time student this would be his last year but he's going 3/4 time so it's a four year program for him, then add in MILITARY training and we're looking at 4-5 years.  BUT Jake LOVES law school so I'm enjoying the ride that's for sure.

Well off to put the house back together now that the bleached floors have dried.

How about we come move in with yall and change that, hahah! I love and miss you and congrats on doing so much hair superwoman!

  2. I was totally caught unaware at how busy a preschooler and a kindergarten made me last year. I now understand why old ladies say, it never gets easier it just gets different.

  3. Good luck with it all...to all of us! :) I've been on the fence too about public vs preschool. For now we are doing public and taking it one year at a time. I reserve the right to change my mind. :) I always feel there are never enough hours in the day too.

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
