Grandparent's Day with Solomon & Papa Tim

My Dad came and was there for Solomon's day.  They made a craft and then went to the book fair.    Thursdays are "College Day" at their school so Jake and I wore our BYU jerseys too. I love Jake being able to go to their school, being so close to extended family, and seeing people we know.  Living in a small town has perks!

Tulia, our Bird

Sometimes we let her out for some exercise and the kids LOVE it. Hey, little Tulia...  I'm just going to try to slowly touch you now  Now don't fly away...  She sometimes nibbles on their fingers.  Oh, Mali Su.  Aimi Lark is the Tulia expert.  She goes at just the right speed and pets her the best.  As you can tell by Tulia's relaxed eyes when Aimi Lark is petting her. So far our bird is a success! Jake caught her in the wild, she got hit by a ceiling fan and survived.   SUCCESS!

Grandparent's Day

Today at the kids' school it was Grandparent's Day for grades 2 and 4.  Solomon's will be on Thursday. This is our Nanny. She is my mother's mother and the kids GREAT-Grandma!  Growing up in the summers I would tag along on her 18 wheeler trips.  She took me for the first time to California.    Malachi was able to interview her and find out more about his Nanny.  Aimi Lark also did an interview and had written a letter to Nanny and it was all about her pets.  Mali Su had a book she made for Nanny and they had fun reading it.  It was quite the funny story.  After each class we took the kids to the book fair.  These 4th grade girls loved having us in their classes. There was a break between Malachi and the girls so we went and volunteered in Solomon's class.  He was on his BEST behavior and didn't really even want to acknowledge we were there.  He wanted to win the quietest kid prize. Well...

Surfing Bolivar Peninsula

We had an amazing day! Malachi is strong and kind. He's getting better at reading books and following instructions. He likes to goof around and play with his brother and sisters. I love him and I really enjoy watching him surf. Aimi Lark is gentle and elegant. She is really good at cleaning and organizing. She is my best reader and fastest runner. I love her and I enjoy playing soccer with her. Solomon is cute and funny. He tries to keep up with his three older siblings but is often frustrated when he's not able to do so. He can surf just as well as his brother and sisters. I love him and he gives the sweetest hugs. Mali Su is bright and fierce. She wants everyone to obey the rules and won't hesitate to go head-to-head with any kid that is misbehaving. She enjoys socializing with kids and adults. I love her and would choose her to represent our family in any competition. Malachi was "show-boating" as he road in those waves.  Too bad I...

Wii Dance Party

We were given a game machine called a Wii and it is very interactive.  The kids have been dancing the night away around here.  It's fun to watch and they get plenty of exercise.  Tulia is our bird and she was out and about too.  I spy Tulia flying around in the background.  Jake told the kids that if they perfected all the dances on this game they could take "real" dance classes.  Those classes are pricey so we are just making sure they're committed.  Mali Su really gets into it and is the one who most wants to take dance lessons at a studio. Anything that keeps up the family time and keeps them busy I'll take it!   So far we love the Wii!
