Trick or Treat

We first walked our neighborhood with Zelda.  We had success at 1 house.

We drove to neighboring subdivisions with little success there either.
They ran from door to door excited to see all the lights on, but alas no one answered in this neighborhood.
THOR was ALWAYS lagging behind.  I think he was overstimulated.  He just couldn't focus and follow.  None of the kids seemed to be able to follow even the simplest directions, they were in their own little worlds.
See THOR, always the distracted one.
We only succeeded at about 10 houses before we went home for the night.  The kids were happy so were we.
We had an EVENTFUL drive home.  Jake wanted some EGG NOG so we headed to the local grocery store.  We're driving along ("in our automobile" you know the song) and out pulls this truck in front of us.  Jake has to SLAM ON THE BRAKES and he lays on the horn.  So once we start going again Jake gets around the guy thinking we don't want to be behind this wacko.  Well as we pass him he is flipping us off and yelling "It's HALLOWEEN cuss word then racial slur."  CLASSY!  I tell ya.  Well we notice he is TAILING US the entire way to the grocery store.  He follows us into the parking lot.  I'm thinking this is crazy ("but here's my number..."  again just sing it).  We see a guy who might be a cop so we ask him if he is because we have a crazy guy on our tail.  He says he's not and then gets into his fireman (Ford) truck.  We park and Jake gets out (looking ready to take care of business).  The guy is circling our van in his truck, on the phone with the POLICE giving them OUR INFO!  He drives off and Jake goes in and buys egg nogg.  I wait and let the kids eat candy.  As we are leaving the grocery store TWO COP cars pull in.  It felt like on a movie when the people who commit the crime drive away and sometimes right past the police.  Can you picture it?  Not that we did anything wrong but it felt like it because obviously they were there looking for us.
We went home, ate candy, drank Nutella Hot Cocoa, and went to bed.
This morning I woke up to the scene below.  Only the shield and hammer weren't put away last night so they had one last little interchange.  LOVE THOSE BOYS SO MUCH!
Did I mention THOR wanted to hit every car (especially ours) with his hammer last night?  Well he did, and we didn't let him.

  1. WOW!!! How eventful was that??? Crazy...I wish I would've known that you wouldn't have much success in your neighborhood...you should've/could've come to the City of Davenport party, it was a lot of fun, put it on your radar for next year.
Crazy about the guy and cops, kind of a scary Halloween story, lol

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
