Malachi is 4 (this month)

If Mali Su is a "mini-me" Malachi is a "mini-Jake."  In the looks of our children Malachi is the only one I can pin point who he looks like, it's Jake.  From the build of his body to his nose, the way the sides start more on his cheekbones, I've always said he looks like Daddy.
He is loud, and busy, and likes to run around the house really fast.  He will jump from furniture to furniture in our living room.  He will randomly yell out and have bursts of energy that seem like if he doesn't release them he might explode.  He does this happily and excitedly.  Daddy says he can relate, sometimes he just has so much pent up energy it just needs to be released.
He gets so angry and silently broods or puts his arms straight down by his side, hands in fists, head down, eyes up and lets out an angry sigh/growl.  He told me often today that "frustrated means you're angry."  I guess I tell him not to get so frustrated and to him he knows that he is angry and put two and two together.  Poor boy and his frustrations with things.

Jake pointed out that Malachi has started to stand up to Mali Su, and push back when she tries to control him.  He will never be the one to try and control her but if she tries to control him he will push back against her just as hard as she is pushing against him.
He's the KING of canon balls in the pool.  I wish he had more confidence in his swimming abilities because he's a great swimmer.  He gets right in and goes to town but typically stays within 3 feet of the pool's edge.
He has the nicest wavy hair, darker blue eyes, and rosy cheeks.  I love how much he loves me.  I love how often he tells me I'm pretty or beautiful.  I love being his mother.
He has so much energy and I love that about him even if I do ask him to stop being so loud probably too often.  When I tell him that I think of how Jake says he was always told to "be quiet" as a child. I quickly repent of my stifling ways and try and embrace this loud, life loving child that is so much like the man I love, his father.
He has a great imagination and loves his rescue bot transformers.  He loves Super Heroes.

He wears "power underwear" to bed.  Daddy coined that phrase so he would wear pull-ups at night.  No amount of potty breaks, no liquid hours before bed and all the old wives' tales in the book can keep him from wetting the bed. Daddy even tried his Daddy's trick of taking them in the night.  I know he'll grow out of it and until then I'll be buying (way too expensive) pull-ups because I can't convince this big boy to wear a diaper to bed (he tells me he's not a baby, he's a big boy).

He flashes "I love you" (in the one hand sign language) and "thumbs up" to me with his cute tiny hands multiple times a day.

He loves to go on dates with Daddy and I had the picture of them from when he did Jedi Training at Disney printed BIG and hung it in the living room.  He has been found looking at it with the sweetest grin on his face.  He came to Jake today and asked him to tell the girls who "Dark (Darth) Maul" is.  That's the bad guy he fought at Disney.
He gets up from bedtime MANY times and comes to me and says things like, "you're pretty" or "I love you" and I have to use my nice voice to tell him not to get back up.  If he was asking for a drink of water or a toy I think I could resist but those baby blues telling me I'm "the best Mom" I melt.

This tough, strong, powerful, loud, sweet, easily frustrated, full of compliments and hugs for his Mama little boy is all mine and I love him.

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
