We set up for Christmas!

We have an ornament that has each year on it.
We've only ever bought the ornaments twice, 2005 and 2010.

2004
(from Jake's Mom)
2005
(bought at Downtown Disney in Anaheim while with Nate and Ashley)
2006
(Jake got while studying Mandarin)
2007
(from Jake's Mom)
 2008
(from the Wood family in Korea)
 2009
(from Jake's Mom)
2010
(bought at Disney World)

Our tradition of setting up for Christmas for my birthday started in 2006.  In 2005 Jake was at Basic Training for the Army right until Christmas so we didn't get to have our own Christmas.  So 2006 rolls around and on my birthday Jake sends me to the spa and I come home to a house COMPLETELY decorated for Christmas, it was wonderful.  Thus began our tradition.

Now we just work on keeping the candy canes happy.
Malachi makes them sad by taking them all off the tree.
The girls are kind and put them all back,
almost daily.

  3. Lia's begging me to decorate for Christmas already but I just can't. I can't! I can't until after Thanksgiving for several reasons that don't make sense to anybody else. Hope that doesn't make me a scrooge. lol Enjoy your lovely decorations, though!!!!

  4. :) those are wonderful! I was so excited when I heard on the 40s channel on Siris radio that they're doing Christmas music now! The best stuff too- Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald, Gene Autry :) Oh it made my heart smile. I love that the candy canes are "happy" on the tree and "sad" when they're taken off--smart thinking!

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
