The weather where we currently live is nice, it seems nice year round. Yes, maybe sometimes a little warm but I can't complain. I like warm, humid, rainy places.
When Jake travels for work I try to keep my sanity and keep the children happy and the best way to do that seems to be OUTSIDE. Our backyard is small and almost completely fenced in. They love to climb in these spindly trees that are unable to bear their weight. The neighbor guy let me know all those trees are "diseased" anyway so I stress less about them bending them now that I know they will be cutting them down at some point.
This area is full of many wonderful parks. I feel as though I'm the only mother with overly busy children as I see the "helicopter" parents watching over their one or two children. I am more the standoffish type of parent. I interact with them but I like to watch them from afar as they try to kick their legs on the swing or maneuver up the rock climbing wall or across the monkey bars. I holler out to them words like, "you can do it, you know how, just try" as I look on and feel a smile sweep across my face as they say "look how high I am!"
My kids have no trouble making friends or being comfortable playing with others or borrowing their stuff. Thankfully no one minded they used their chalk. They went to town drawing and I loved hearing what their pictures were.
Solomon can seldom be found without a stuffed animal (preferably with sparkly eyes) and usually a leopard.
Malachi drew this fancy name himself after following Aimi Lark's lead. I was so proud! He is trying so hard in school to not talk and stay on task. I get so excited for him when I see him excel!
What a blessing it is to have children in our lives!
