Caroline en route to see Jacob Shillig in China

I was so excited to be able to use FaceTime with the kids on my LONG layover in Chicago.  I snapped some unflattering screenshots of us talking but somehow missed Solomon's picture.  I had some not so praiseworthy deep dish at the airport, but I figured "when in Rome."
After hours of a layover they then delayed my flight by almost 3 more hours due to mechanical failure of some sort just as I was about to board.
The TVs left much to be desired.  They were so old and I found myself a little disappointed in the poor movie options.  I survived and before I knew it I was filling out my customs form, putting on some fresh makeup and we were landing.  As I passed through customs in the middle of the night I was loudly hit on by a drunk Russian guy.  As I quickly walked away (I made it through customs before he did) an American business man I started talking to told me he made sure to keep up with me just in case that guy pursued his desires to "take me dancing in Siberia" any further.
I was so excited to see my handsome international business man.  We waited in a forever long line for a taxi and off to the hotel we went.
We had been apart for 4 weeks and it was so wonderful to be reunited again.

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
