Our Sabbath

Malachi with a look of sudden realization on his face looked at me (Jake) and said "wa" (for water) then he said "shhh" (with his finger over his lips and thumb out) and then he said "da" (for quiet).
Jake sent me this little description of what happened when Malachi saw the boys leaving to pass the water after the blessing of the sacrament.  So cute AND so smart.

Aimi Lark got a WARM FUZZY today at church.  She has worked so hard and today she finally triumphed and got a "reverence prize."  I got to the car and when I did I hear Aimi Lark say, "Maaamaaa" from the back seat and when I look back she tells me she got a warm fuzzy.  I hurry and open the van door, and start to tear up as I congratulate her and tell her how proud I am!  She was just beaming with the sweetest smile on her face.  When I was talking to Jake as we drove he said that he gave her a pep talk before taking her to class and I told him I gave her one too!  I guess we all had warm fuzzies on the brain.  Talking to her primary president after church (I had to go back in to find Brody) she started to tear up too because she knew just how hard Aimi Lark was working to stay in her seat, sit quietly, listen, etc. etc. to earn that little warm fuzzy.  She told me how when she gave it to Aimi Lark that Aimi Lark held it gently in her hand and caressed it with her other hand and then kissed it.  Sister Hahn asked Aimi Lark if she wanted it on her shirt and she said she wanted it on her shoulder.  She would rub her face against it on her shoulder.  Being still, seated, quiet and such isn't easy for a little 4 year old.  We are so proud of you Aimi Lark!  Now remember to be reverent every week.

Mali Su is so proud of her color pages she does in class each week.  Here are her's from this week.

Today's testimony meeting was absolutely 100% amazing!  The first Sunday of the month people from the congregation can go up and share what they know to be true, personal experiences that have built their testimony, and I love to be uplifted by those around me so Testimony meeting is always exciting for me.  Today was no different.  You've heard me speak highly of my ward here in FL before and today was no different.  The testimonies shared were so wonderful.  We had a husband and wife who were sealed as a family this past week in the Temple each go up and speak of how the Temple had blessed the lives of them and their children.  A sister who has been meeting with the missionaries with her family spoke as well.  She shared how they sit outside with the elders and "have church" and just how hard working and persistent these young missionaries are.  I will admit the testimony meeting was a little more "colorful" or "irreverent" than most months but that is what I love about my ward.  The people, the life experiences, the accents, the cultures, the overall happiness that is radiating from those who speak to us and open up to us.  Even some sweet children shared their testimonies.  I felt I was smiling from ear to ear for the entire meeting.  I will admit the saying of "Aloha" and many bouts of laughter from the congregation made my heart smile.  I feel that my ward is one of sincere love and unity.  We are truly blessed!

  1. You could have said..."Katie's children were both colorful and irreverent!" Seriously, bad day at church for me, but we are home and going to have a quick lesson on testimony's tonight.

    So proud of AL!!

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
