Easter Sunday

So it's late and I'm up blogging
(and email chatting with Jackie, we do that a lot).
Jake is in bed, the boys are in bed, Malachi is in bed, and the girls are up and rambunctious
(so I'm up til they are not).
Here is our Easter Sunday in (lots of) pictures:
We watched the Sunday morning session of conference at our house and then rushed over to Larkie's for Easter lunch (that was supposed to be dinner). We were trying to kill time since the ham wasn't done yet and so we hid eggs (inside thanks to SNOW last night). Everyone crammed into Jordan's room while Jake and his Dad, umm, I mean, the EASTER BUNNY hid eggs in the house.
Aimi Lark got the concept of gathering the eggs that were scattered about.
Mali Su on the other hand stopped at the first sight of candy all over the floor and started chowing down.
Fielding (Sarager) took Malachi around with him to find eggs (without being asked). People who are good to my kids rank very high in my book.
Elliana (Jake's youngest sibling) seemed to rake in a pretty good haul! I think that is Jordan trying to sneak an egg.
The adults came out last so I think Kayla and Josh only got a few eggs. They seemed satisfied with their haul though.
Here are all the hunters!
The sitting and eating of the candy began!
(we were still waiting on the ham)

Aimi Lark had a hard time keeping her eggs (lots of egg snatchers) so she sought refuge with her Daddy.
It took Mali Su a little bit but she learned all those eggs had CANDY in them! She got one and was content to just sit and eat from it.
To kill even more time (that ham still wasn't ready) Jake's dad did an adult hunt of hiding eggs in less obvious places. The adults then counted their eggs to see who won (I think it was Celeste at 25 eggs).
Luke arrived with a delicious salad in hand. It was seriously a BEAUTIFUL salad.
Jake's Dad was eager to get on the road. Word of a bad snowstorm made him anxious to get out of UT ASAP.
As a kid I did not like the taste of deviled eggs but now as an adult I LOVE to make/eat them. I make mine more on the "mustard" side verses the "mayonnaise" side but that is only because I do no like mayo. Jake loves my eggs and so do the boys so I count my eggs as a success!
Oh and a funny fact is that I don't put the normal sprinkled seasoning on top (paprika?). I didn't know what was on top of the eggs (I just made up how to make them) so I put Tony Chachere's or Tex Joy steak seasoning on top...YUM! Caroline's deviled eggs with a SE TX touch. After round 1 of eating we watched the second session of General Conference.
Everyone had full bellies and heavy eyelids.
The kids were really rowdy so Jake kindly took care of them in Jordan's room. I think they enjoyed climbing ALL over him. Kenny showed up and kept Jake company.
Round 2 of eating commenced. The Keetons showed up with a yummy potato dish and everyone was ready to eat (and eat)!
These cute girls were just sitting on the floor like this when I walked by. They LOVED the rolls!
My sweet Malachi was so tired. He crashed on my lap as we watched the second session of conference. I loved looking down at him in my lap, his face covered in the remnants of all the candy he ate (off the floor) that the other kids would drop. He is so sweet and has the softest blond hair, I love it. I don't know what I expected my children to look/be like but honestly I expected my dark hair to win out but not with those strong blond Shillig genes (that I love).
When we got home Jake surprised everyone by sharing his most prized Easter possession, CADBURY CREME EGGS!!!
The boys then finished off the night playing football with a paper triangle and their fingers as the goal posts.
Luke and Kaylene stopped by and we all brainstormed (for hours) about how Beau should ask a girl to prom. I think we have it all sorted out. Details to come.
Conference/Easter weekend was BUSY and wonderfully awesome all rolled into one. Now if my girls would just go to sleep I would be REALLY (really) happy.

  3. Can't wait to hear how the prom invitation goes -- the kids always amaze me at their creativity. One time, our daughter had to drive around Provo for 7 or 8 stops for "clues." Another time, we had a dancing refrigerator box in our front yard at 10:30 at night. I never did figure that one out!

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
