Spring has Sprung

This weekend we squeezed in some (much needed) SPRING cleaning.
I just told Larkie recently that I missed moving because I feel like unless you move your house never truly gets deep cleaned or de-junked (I love to de-junk). She told me that was what SPRING cleaning was for (how I missed that one?). Well about 2 weeks ago Beau said, "It's SPRING we should do SPRING cleaning!"
Well he got his wish!
Come white glove test my house NOW (it should pass). The boys even scrubbed my walls! I have been dying to paint them (for about 3 years) but since painting (I think scares Jake a little) is not something we've done just yet I am fine with my spiffy clean walls! While deep cleaning Jake enlisted the help of tiny bodies. The girls were put behind the washer and dryer with some baby wipes and they did a fantastic job!How does all that lint get back there? Isn't that what that hose is for...to send the lint elsewhere?

While cleaning we stumbled across some fun items that flooded my mind with memories...
For example, this purse was purchased on a little trip Jake and I took with the Keetons to Tijuana, Mexico. We were all doing summer sales in Anaheim, CA. We took a day trip down across the border and shopped and walked around. I saw this purse and LOVED it but the guy wouldn't give Jake a good deal so we left (and I pouted). We stopped by a major hole in the wall (actually a cart on the side of the road) taco stand where the guys ended up eating the food ordered despite Jake's apprehension. Even though it was Marlyse's idea I don't think she even ate any, she said seeing the meat just sitting out made her not want to eat it anymore. After eating I think I was still sulking (very mature I know) so when we got in the car Jake had Kenny drop him off so he could run in the shop and buy it for me. I have cherished that purse since the summer of 2005. Today though I finally got rid of it. The girls had literally unwoven it, rendering it utterly useless. Good-bye handmade Mexican purse...Thanks Hunnie!

Jake also stumbled across his baseball card collection from when he was a kid. It has been stowed away on our bookshelf for years now and Jake pulled it out and showed it to the boys. It was sad to hear him tell them how he took a card to show and tell (Ken Griffey Jr.) and then put it in his backpack and when he got back from recess it was GONE from his backpack. Talk about sad! He took his FAVORITE/COOLEST card to school and someone STOLE it!
The boys were so goofy today. They are such great brothers for one another.
Man I'm in a good mood! The house is clean, the ACM award show is on, my kids are doing amazing (all 5 of them), and I am excited (slash kinda nervous) about starting an 8 week challenge with Jake's cousin SHAY tomorrow. I am 13lbs from my goal of being a healthy weight for my height by the time Malachi turns one. He will be 11 months old TOMORROW so I have to lose 13lbs in 1 month to complete my goal. I think I can do it!!! That will put me at the weight I was when I met and was dating Jake!

In other news Nate and Ashely had their baby today.
Baby BRAXTON RANDY SHILLIG!
He looks like a cutie from the tiny cell phone picture I saw today.
6lbs 14oz and 18.5 inches long!

Oh and today I started reading Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover.
(thanks Kayla for leaving it for me)
I already feel chastised a little...I have read his website on and off for a few years (Thanks Marrian) now. I'm only on chapter 2 but I'm excited to here more of what he has to say.

Jake is at Kenny's right now. I love when they get to hang out. I think everyone needs that one amazing friend that you go way back with. Jake and Kenny grew up together, went to HS, church, and came to BYU together. They have a great friendship.

Now, if ALL the law schools Jake applied to would just send us letters of acceptance tomorrow I would be one EXTREMELY happy lady...here's hoping and praying for THAT!

Night Y'all!

  1. Oh you motivate me! I need to hunker down and get my spring cleaning done... I just haven't been able to muster the energy yet :) And way to go on your weight loss! That is so inspiring. I haven't made it to the gym in a few weeks now cuz of the pregnancy, but I look forward to getting back!

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
