Some FUN stuff

So this weekend another thing Jake did for me was Aimi Lark proofing our house. He said it was ridiculous that I was always cleaning up after her when she destroyed the kitchen and her room. He put latches on all the drawers and cabinets in the house and that included her room! I have to admit life is easier now that I do not have to follow behind her cleaning up as much. THANKS hunnie!

Sunday night after Aimi Lark proofing things we decided to move the girls into the same room. Jake's sister Audrey will be staying with us during her off track from BYU-I and so we moved Mali Su out of her future room into Aimi Lark's. I was so nervous about this because both my girls are such great sleepers I feared the worst but alas everything worked out A-OK! We also took out the bassinet part on the pack n play and now Mali Su is sleeping on the bottom... such a big girl!

Also I felt like the COOLEST mom ever yesterday because for the first time in quite some time I let Aimi Lark feed herself... sad I know... usually I feed her to avoid a mess but yesterday I gave her spaghetti and then cookies for dessert and let her feed herself! Big step for those who know how big I am on things being clean... including my children haha.

And last but not least... MY Tupperware bowl porch garden is sprouting stuff! I doubt anyone cares to see my tiny porch garden pictures but I want to document my first attempt at growing things. My herb garden is still alive and kicking. I did make some yummy chicken marinaded in some herbs from my garden! It felt so fulfilling to go out pick the herbs, wash them, chop them, and then put them on chicken with some extra virgin olive oil and garlic. YUM! Also my cucumber seeds have sprouted! I am worried though because I stuck some beans in the soil too (because I learned in elementary school that those are fun to grow because they ALWAYS sprout and I wanted to see something grow) but now I am worried the beans will steal nutrients from the cucumber sprouts... maybe I'll try to move them...

  1. Way to go on the garden! I let Tim do most of our stuff so I'm super impressed with what you've been doing. Keep it up! (and good thing for childproof locks - I love them!).

  5. You ARE the coolest mom ever! I can't stand for Ethan to grab the spoon and make a mess, so my mom showed me how to lay him down and and keep his hands away to feed him. Good job on your garden! We're gonna have to have a cook off when you come visit, since you know so much about herbs. So bring it!

  6. Did you lock her in the cupboard? Haha! Nice! If my kids are ever bad that will be their punishment... spend 10 minutes with the pots and pans.
Marlyse, we have plenty or room for a garden. You left us so it is all your fault.

  7. Good job on your garden. In enrichment we are going to make our own herb gardens and I am looking to you for advice. Do they need to sit by the window?
Yay for Aimi Lark eating by herself! She is getting so big!

  9. ...don't you love how the little seedlings always point their faces towards the sun? I am sprouting some zucchini and I have to rotate them every day so they don't bend too far in one direction.

  10. Oh goodness with the baby proofing!! We did that the day we moved into our place here! I was the same as you..going right behind her and picking everything up, or making her always keep out of here, keep out of there!! We even have a gate in the kitchen "doorway" so it is totally off limits, but we also have the cabinet locks in there too! We keep all bathroom and bedroom doors closed as well!!

Yay for Miss Mali Su moving down to the lower part of her pack n play!!

And your little mini garden looks great!!

  11. celeste- I put my herb garden on our porch in the sun and it does well... i think it depends on the herbs you are growing if they like the sun or not.

timothy- yes she climbed in the cabinet and shut the door but now with the latch it was even funnier...

and marlyse we should TOTALLY garden together at your house and share the benefits!!!

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
