Mali Su Physical Therapy Update

So today Mali Su had a physical therapy appointment and they measured her head to see if we have made any progress. She is still off by 11 mm (remember the avg is 4mm) and that is the same as when she started. The physical therapist said that by where she is at today he would definitely recommend her getting a helmet (because repositioning has not changed things) to help correct both her head shape and her neck positioning and to help prevent any related problems that can occur from her always looking left. Problems can include facial scoliosis.

Jake ALSO found out at work today that he can pursue the helmet via insurance through his chain of command. He plans on working on that next week when he is done with his training. We hope that the insurance company will cooperate!

~oh and a funny side note the physical therapist (BEN) said we should get her some more toys that will interest her and help with her stretches etc. How fun for Mali Su that she HAS to get NEW toys haha

  1. Good luck with that one! I can't imagine them denying it when you are medically recommended it! Better to pay a little now than a lot! Dumb insurance companies...

  4. Aw, a helmet won't be fun, but it's great that things like that can be corrected. Sort of like braces, not very comfortable, but you look so good afterwards.

  5. Oh the joys of Tricare...they drive me crazy with the things they refuse to cover, etc. But at least what they do cover, they cover well! I would think they would cover that one since it will prevent more medical problems in the future. Good luck!

  6. Yep, he's still in the Army so I still get to deal with Tricare. I've been having my own drama with them lately. And every person on the phone will tell you something different. It's insane! I could go on and on...but I'll spare you my whining. :-)

  7. Good luck with the insurance! I don't understand why they wouldn't just cover it? This is a baby for crying out loud!

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
