Aimi Lark Starts KINDERGARTEN

I made all the preparations for a smooth early morning and smooth it was.  We left on time and everything, but my mind was focused on so many things I didn't get a picture of myself with her and before I knew it I was dropping off Jake at his job, the middle school next door to Aimi Lark's elementary.  He will be teaching Spanish, Mandarin, and Chess.  I am so excited for him, he will do amazing things in those kids' lives.
I got to Aimi Lark's school and parked.  I wasn't sure if she was completely in the system because she is a transfer student since we live out of the district.  She is able to attend since Jake teaches next door.  The principal at Jake's school told him there weren't many extra perks in teaching, but they do make sure their kids are taken care of.  That made me feel great!
Her teacher seemed anxious to get the parents out the door so she could start her day.  She was friendly though.  The principal came on the loud speaker welcoming everyone and then said something about after today parents not being allowed past the office.  Needless to say when I got to my car I was in tears.  I felt like I had just signed my rights away to my child and lost all control.  I know that's not how it is, but that's how I feel.  I'm dealing with those feelings.  I think that's why my heart would love home school, I still have control over the way things work, not the system.  But enough about that, we're doing public school and it's going to be amazing!

Aimi Lark is a natural at school.  She walked in, sat down, began to color, and write her name.  I need to take a que from her book and stay calm.  She's awesome.  I love my sweet Aimi Lark.
I can still see her flashing me the "I love you" sign as I left her class.

Now to find out when school gets out, I forgot to ask!

  2. Good job momma! I remember a teacher I taught with who would tell the parents "If you are older than 6 you have to leave now."
I feel the same as you about the control. That is going to be hard for me too. Good luck to us both! Can't wait for more updates!

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
