Friends

I am lucky enough to be in two great circles.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Military.
They are both very uniting groups.

Whenever you talk to someone from our church you will find that you usually know someone who served their mission in the same place as someone you know, or grew up in a ward you visited once, went to BYU when you did, lived in the same apartments or dorms you did, and the list could go on and on.

The same is true with the military.  Your husband went to basic at the same place as their husband, you have been stationed here or there or WANT to be stationed here or there and they already have been, so instant connections are made.

It is quite fun when you combine both someone from church and the military.

That is the case with my friend Ariel.  She and I were in the same ward in Sierra Vista, AZ while our husbands were stationed at FT. Huachuca in 2007.  Through blogs and email we have kept in contact.  We interacted each week at our ward's playgroup at parks on base.  I have never been involved in such a great playgroup as the one at FT. Huachuca.  So many people came!  It was so great to learn from so many wonderful LDS and/or military spouses.

Well yesterday she called to come over for a visit because she is here in UT for a family reunion!
We let the kids play, we chatted, had snacks,
she bought everyone an IN-N-OUT picnic lunch,
we went to the Monte L. Bean Museum at BYU.
I told her it was the BEAN museum and she asked if it had "beanie babies?"  She also told me some pretty exciting news yesterday.  They just might be headed to NPS after her husband's current deployment.  I am so thrilled!  NPS (Naval Postgraduate School) is in Monterey!

I feel blessed to be a part of both the military and the LDS church.

  1. With all the traveling and moving that we've been doing I've finally behind in checking your blog. However, I wanted to say that you continue to look great! Also, we've only been gone a short little while and yet looking at your pictures I feel like Mali Su and Malachi look so much bigger! Congrats to Beau on choosing to be baptized and best of luck to you guys this summer as you prepare to move!

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
