My 1 year old Son

(his cutest outfit courtesy of the S&L Sarager family for his 1st birthday, I saved it for Memorial Day)

Sometimes stands unassisted.  He lets go of things and doesn't realize he is standing all on his own.

He pushes around BIG toys.  I think the wheels on his push toy go too fast for him so he sticks to things like pack-n-plays, the police car, and his high chair.

He is nowhere close to walking, at least in my opinion.
Hopefully he proves me wrong, his poor little knees are all calloused over.

He thinks Aimi Lark is hilarious.  I don't think anyone makes him laugh as hard as she does.
Especially when she jumps in the tub from the side saying, "Buzz, Buzz, light year to the rescue!!!"

He knows what he wants and is good at whining in hopes of getting what he desires.  He is learning to throw some funny fits. I choose to laugh when my kids pitch fits vs cry or get overly frustrated.
"The only way to get through life is to laugh your way through it. You either have to laugh or cry. I prefer to laugh. Crying gives me a headache."
— Marjorie Pay Hinckley

He throws himself all over the place saying "UH" as he falls on top of you or the bed and laughs.
He likes to play in the grass, enjoys trying to get my phone and camera, and now can enjoy bath time for about 2 minutes before standing up at the side of the tub whining to get out.

He still LOVES his Joshie.  He lights up whenever Josh enters the room and crawls as fast as he can to him and then puts his arms up and bounces on his booty asking to be picked up by Josh.  He then lays his head on Josh's shoulder.  It is adorable, seriously adorable.  I keep saying if Jake and I ever go out of town we are sending Malachi to Josh and Kayla's house.

His hair is long but Jake says we can't cut it.  He wants him to have the power of Sampson with that hair.  Malachi's hair has wings at some moments and sometimes a little curl in the back.  It continually looks lighter to me.

His eyes are a darker blue than the girls.  Jake says like his brother Kurt's eyes.

He loves to cuddle.  When he lays his head on me and pats me the way I pat him I am so content.

Man, I love having a son.
It is AWESOME!

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
