Well I'm preparing to go couponing in the morning. There is this BIG sale at Smith's in the morning and I plan on being there. I am printing lists, clipping coupons, and all around making myself sick.
My stomach is just a turning.
You would think I'm running a marathon (or in my case a 5K) in the morning. I am majorly stressing out, these Provo Moms can get CRAZY.
I want to use all, well most of, these coupons I have been hoarding at the rate of 3 Sunday paper coupon inserts/week since NOVEMBER! I want to get my money's worth out of these papers.
I'll tell y'all how it goes when I get back. I'm planning on going at 6AM. Yep, I'm that determined/crazy.
So I'm back now.
I think I was less stressed shopping that early and having slept since clipping the coupons. It was surprising that there were so many ladies already there bright and early and some things like jugs of Sunny D that would have been FREE with my coupons were gone. Man, those ladies are good! I felt like I was on the show "Super Market Sweet" for crying out loud!
I did leave completely and utterly frustrated. I normally leave on this high from saving so much money but not today. The lady doing the coupons couldn't key in 16 of my coupons and since the Smith's deal is to make all coupons $1 that is $16 I have to go back in once the office opens and try to get back. After I got home and put it all out for a "couponing" picture I felt a little better.
So here's the break-down:
113 items
$270.29 before coupons/fresh values savings
$126.73 after savings
(not including the $16 in coupons I am still going back for)
So that breaks down to $1.12/item
Wow, now I'm feeling better.
OK I know what you are thinking, YOU ARE MOVING!
But we are taking a moving truck so packing all this boxed stuff will be no biggy.
And I feel good because I got my money's worth out of all these months of newspaper subscriptions.
I'm also now going to put ALL my coupons in the mail to my friend Marrian over in Germany.
They can use their coupons for up to 6 months past the expiration, SCORE!
Seriously, I'm now feeling better about my crazy, last minute, stressful, and frustrating at the check-out experience.

I'm pretty amazed. I'm ready to give up couponing. I feel like I don't see amazing savings and just end up spending more money on things that I wouldn't have necessarily gone through. I don't know. WE'll see!
ReplyDeleteImpressive! I don't think we have a Smiths up here.... Sheesh, good shoppin'!
ReplyDeleteThere aren't really any good stores here in Nederland to do what you did! I don't think anyone makes doubles coupons or makes them a buck! That would be sweet! The greatest deals I have seen are when people go to Publix. I so wish we had a Publix close!
ReplyDeleteAnd with the Sunny D being gone, you have to wake up and get there when it opens to get all the goods you want.
Good luck packing it all up!! haha
You have that down to a fine science! I know people do great with coupons. I'm feeling too overwhelmed to even learn how but you're an inspiration so I might try it.
ReplyDeleteWow... I am impressed! That trip was a total success! I agree with the boxing it up and moving. Saving money is great! And I bet that things are more expensive in Cali! Way to go Caroline!
