Military Spouse Blog Hop

(above is a picture from Jake's BCT (basic combat training) graduation)

I get lots of questions about our military life so here is a quick rundown.
Jake has been in the Utah Army National Guard since August 2005.
We spent the beginning of our enlisted career in Monterey, CA where Jake learned Mandarin Chinese.
We followed that up with his AIT in FT Huachuca, AZ.
We spent the next few years here in UT while Jake finished up his bachelor's degree in Spanish at BYU.  He worked at that time as a full time Army linguist.  So that means he was in the Nat'l Guard but on Active Duty orders.
Jake finished up at BYU and commissioned as a 2nd LT in the UT Army Nat'l Guard.
He is no longer in MI (military intelligence) but now he is a Medical Service Corp Officer with his unit.
We will soon be moving back to Monterey, CA where Jake will go to law school.
We love the Army and all the benefits it provides.
We are not your typical Army family but enjoy all that the National Guard has to offer us.
I am a wife of a soldier, a mother to many, and love to blog about our journey.

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
