The Festivities

I attempted my first ever "mommy" cake.  Malachi LOVES balloons so I got the idea to make him a balloon cake.  I doctored up a butter pecan cake mix with a box of white chocolate pudding and I made homemade cream cheese frosting that I colored (thank Alana) with food coloring (did you know that is now gel not drops?  I didn't).  I then used a popped balloon as a way to make the round cakes look more "balloon" like.
I added a clown that came in a balloon bouquet from my mom when I was in 6th grade and tried out for Jr. High Cheerleader in Smithville, TX.  I made cheerleader for 7th grade, it was all thanks to the balloon bouquet that showed up to my class, weighted down by that clown.  I have had it in my hope chest til yesterday.

We had quite the turn-out.  We have such a great network of family and friends.  Provo really is a great place for uniting us "student families" together I think.
Jake even made sure the Laker/Suns game was on for the Dads.
Jake's cousin Chad, his wife Chelsea, and their son Chadburn are so great about coming to family functions.  They brought us some YUMMY cake bites from "Sweet Tooth Fairy."

Malachi's party was a straight "desserts only" party so we got right to the blowing out of the candles.  It probably helped that Aimi Lark had been incessantly asking to sing "the happy birthday song."

"What's this flickering light thing, it looks cool, Dad don't stop me, let me touch it"
"What's with the filming, picture taking, and song singing??"
"Now I can touch it!"
"What do I do now?  Can someone clean me please?"
"What do you want me to do with this?"
"Here Son, taste it, it's good"
"You won't taste it? Here, let me help you a little more"
"Mommy help, quit taking pictures and help me!  Daddy just put cake ALL over me"
"Wait a second, what's this?"
"Hmm very interesting..."
"This isn't half bad, I think I like it"
 "Yep, definitely good stuff"

"Should I eat some more?  It looks tempting"
"Yeah, just one more bite,  Yum Yum Yum, Delicioso!"
"Mom, Dad, I'm totally finished, had all the cake I can handle,  Please stop taking pictures and bathe me, PRONTO, before I crawl away and get this cake mess all over the house"
"Now I feel better, what's in this bag?"
"Whoa Hadley, thanks for this sweet 4 wheeler!"
"Jordan, back off, I know you brought me this present but quit trying to steal it back, don't be an Indian giver"
(Indian giver is an English expression used in North America and Australia, used to describe a person who gives a gift (literal or figurative) and later wants it back, or something equivalent in return.)
"This is my Joshie, now that I'm all cleaned up and not covered in cake he will hold me, we're best buds"
"Thanks Mom and Dad for the totally sweet party, I loved it, but now I'm going to take off with my friends, if that's OK"

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
