I've mentioned it before but Malachi has always disliked bath time.
He fusses the entire time so I usually soap him down really fast, get him out, and then just let the girls finish their bath and play around.
(yes, I bathe all three together, judge me)
Well today the girls brought their balloons they got at the grocery store
(I took a "big girl pill" and took all three to the store alone to get some much needed MILK)
into the bath with them and Malachi was having a blast.
He was climbing around, chasing the balloons,
splashing about,
falling down,
rolling over, and I was watching in utter disbelief and sheer joy that my son was finally in the tub for more than a minute and wasn't fussing.
Well my joy quickly ended when he tried to climb into the "seat" area of our jetted tub and fell right on his face. I expected to pick him up and see a bloody mouth but thankfully I didn't.
I laid him down to put a diaper on him and saw it,
A CHIPPED FRONT TOOTH!
I panicked, felt overwhelming feelings of guilt, feared for him being made fun of or called "chip" or some nickname of the sort.
I came to my senses and called Jake who said it was
NO BIG DEAL.
"NO BIG DEAL!?" I thought to myself.
You see Jake had a chip in his front tooth when we were dating and I NEVER NOTICED IT!
We broke up for a week (Jake dumped me) and while we were broken up he got his wisdom teeth out (I'm sure while he was recovering he wished he hadn't dumped me so I could take care of him) and the dentist fixed the chip in his tooth. To this day I've still never seen what he looked like with a chip.
OK so back to Malachi.
He has a chipped front tooth and I am still beating myself up about it.
(see it there on the right side? his left front tooth)
I am however grateful for my level headed husband who helped me realize "it is no big deal" and that my little boy will have plenty more little boy/kid moments.

Hey, I've got a brown-toothed kid. I feel ya.
ReplyDeleteSorry, Caroline, I can't even see the chip. It must be so tiny. I think it happens to almost every child at some point. They're baby teeth anyway. He's still so adorable!
ReplyDeleteThey'll fall out anyway! No biggie!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for a bath toy~ ballons! :) It really isn't a big deal for them to chip their baby teeth I've discovered :( Bryn recently chipped one of her front teeth and now it looks like a vampire tooth (kind-of). My sis-in-law took her daughter to the dentist when she chipped her tooth and the dentist wouldn't do anything about it. So I haven't even had Bryn looked at. haha.
ReplyDeleteAND if it makes you feel better~ Malachi's isn't noticeable! :)
The title of this totally made me laugh! I was like, "Ewwwww, Caroline! He should have had lots of baths by now!" I'm such a nerd...and I understand now. :) I agree with Jake..no biggie. Plus, it'll fall out anyway.
