Sunday Thoughts

I sit here typing this wearing some shorts I have not fit in since the summer of 2005 when I bought them. At the time they were all the rage, knee length shorts, that were STYLISH! A novel concept at the time. I have saved them all these years hoping to wear them again. Each summer I longed to wear them but due to being pregnant or just had a baby they stayed put away. I am so happy I wear them everyday lately (I know it is still winter). I am even more happy to say they are a bit big and if I reach my goal by summer I will just have to find some more stylish knee length shorts to wear.

Tonight Mali Su showed us even more how she is just like her mother. I made dinner and part of that meal was mashed potatoes. She ate the entire (large) serving I put on Jake's plate. She kept yelling for more (and it sound like she was saying "cheetos"). If you don't already know I LOVE potatoes of all varieties but especially mashed potatoes, heavily seasoned, no gravy.

Brody passed the sacrament for the first time today. I was sad Jake was at drill but last night Jake took Brody and got him a suit to wear today to church. It was wonderful watching Brody pass the sacrament to our family.Larkie came over on Saturday. It was so fun to spend the day with her, Jordan, and Atticus. Seth and Jake both had drill so it made for one fun day since our husbands were away. Larkie and Jordan attended a fairy tea party and Atticus got to hang out with us. He was so sweet and just slept in my arms. Larkie brought over all their "fairy gear" to wear and Aimi Lark was obsessed with the pink wigs. She just walked around running her hands through the hair like Cinderella does at the beginning of the movie when she sings "a dream is a wish..."(and yes that IS Mali Su pitching a fit on the floor at Aimi Lark's high heeled feet)

This afternoon we drove around so Beau could work on his photography assignment. Tonight is so relaxing. Jake is home from drill. The house is clean and full of those I love (and that love us). Our tummies are full of grilled fish, mashed potatoes, broccoli, and chocolate chip cookies.
We even finished off the night with haircuts (being a cosmetologist does come in handy).

Jake has officially finished all his Law School applications and now we just wait to hear back from them. We still have a long to-do list at the moment but we are slowly chipping away at it. Taxes, house in TX, Army paperwork issues, you name it, we are working on it.
I better get some sleep...just thinking about working on it all tomorrow makes me tired.

  3. Good for you on fitting into those shorts! I love long shorts. Well we have to because we don't have a lot of options on lengths for shorts now de we?! :) And I thought Jake was going to be a Dr.? He'll make a good lawyer too I'm sure.

  5. I think that all the weight that you've lost has found it's way to me.

No gravy on your mashed potatoes? Maybe that's my problem.

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
