Army party #2. Jake is in BYU's ROTC program as well as the National Guard. On Saturday I had planned all day (while Jake was gone taking the LSAT) for us to attend a FAMILY Christmas party with his unit when at the last minute I learn it is a FORMAL dinner for adults only. So we hurry and find a sitter (Thanks Li family!) and we get all gussied up again. It was a fun date but I will admit some of the magic of getting all dressed up was gone the second night.
Last night I picked up these crowns for the girls to take with them to the sitter so that they could get in on all the princess action.

We woke up this morning to our first real snow of the season!
Snow angels were first on the list of snow activities.

After a roll down the hill we all went back inside.

Malachi opted to nap inside in his warm bed while we played outside. This is him pre-nap snacking on a pretzel stick.
I am enjoying winter so much more than I ever have before. I love seeing the excitement that things such as decorating for Christmas and snow bring to Brody, Aimi Lark, and Mali Su. I am so proud of myself for being more laid back about things. I smile every time I walk in the living room and see our huge beautiful tree and the clumps of candy canes all on one branch (thanks Mali Su), the half-eaten wax stars (thanks again Mali Su), ALL the breakable ornaments at the tip top (thanks Jake), and the train in completely derailed with ALL the people and animals in one train car (thanks Aimi Lark). I love our tree because it is perfectly realistic for this stage in our life. I will have plenty of time to have that perfect catalog tree, but for now I'm enjoying relaxing and rolling with things more than trying to control them.
Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.
And that is the key...Roll with things instead of trying to control them. It is so much more enjoyable that way!
ReplyDeleteThat was from me by the way!
ReplyDeleteCrystal :)
We can't wait to see ALL of it!!! Fun fun fun!
ReplyDeleteOur tree looks like that too. Thanks to Vivian, there is a cluster of ornaments right in front and a big empty section around the side. And all of the breakables are up high with the bottom half covered in clothes-pin reindeers, and plastic spiderman and ponies.
ReplyDeleteI love the joy you find in the simple and beautiful things in life. The time you spend with your husband and children is priceless. You are a breath-taking couple and family!
ReplyDeleteYou still look great the second time around! I don't even own a formal anymore.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are enjoying the season more this year. It is a great season to enjoy!!!
