Delaney turns 5!

My sister had her 5th Birthday party today at a little lake/water park in Rose City, TX called BOOMTOWN. The kids could not get enough of the slides and the kiddie pool. Aimi Lark had a major melt-down each time one of the bigger kids did not take her with them down the big slide. Mali Su even took a turn or two. Mali Su also hung out at the snack table more than anyone else. She LOVED the grapes. They had a small 1ft deep kiddie pool that had these two small slides that the girls enjoyed. Aimi Lark started sliding down all different directions and even brought over a big slide mat and used it on the mini-slides. She is such a smart girl! Malachi chilled in his bouncy seat most of the time. He is such a good boy! My cousin Robyn was a lifeguard while we were there and it was nice to see her and have her help!

And I cannot leave out the best news of all... I got to talk to Jake while at the party! I have kept my phone with me at all times this last month (notice it in my shirt?) except for the ONE time I went down the water slide and missed his call! But he called back :) It was a WONDERFUL conversation. He is back from the field and has passed all his trainings and will graduate on FRIDAY! I also JUST got 2 letters from him last night. In a letter he told me how a cadet went missing during their night land navigation and they all had to go to find him and he was found dead. His next letter told me it was from suicide, he hung himself from a tree. It was really awful for me to read that. I am so grateful for Jake's safety during these last 4 weeks of training. 7 days til we see Jake.

  1. Wow, I do not envy Jake and all the hard work and experiences he has had; however I really appreciate all he is doing for us and the country!
Thank you Caroline for your sacrifice as well. I don't know how you have held up so good this past month. You are one amazing woman!

  2. Thanks for your comment Caroline:) Michael says that they just switched to the new way I think last year-I think you have to have been deployed and for Soldiers that were deployed for 1 Year (Michael) you get 1/2 of college payed for as well as 60% of what your Housing is. However it goes up and if you have been deployed for 3 years then you qualify for complete Housing payed for. I don't think you and Jake will be under the same thing since he is in the ROTC (right?) and Michael is in the reserves...But I could be wrong (Probably am, I never understand the way the Army works :)

  3. What a horrible thing for Jake to deal with. I'll be happy when he's home safe with you (as you will be too, I'm sure!) I won't get to see you before we move (sad!) but please keep in touch!

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
