Bolivar Peninsula

Today we took a trip to the Bolivar Peninsula. I have been dying to go to the beach. My mom and I decided last minute to load up my three and her two youngest and head out for the day. We got some lunch and then drove along the shore to survey the damage from last year's hurricane IKE. What used to be a beach community of both old and new homes was now leveled ground with a few houses here and there and the remnants of houses that used to be. It was sad for me to see. I hope that people are able to rebuild if they choose and that a hurricane of IKE's magnitude is nowhere to be seen.

The kids had a great time playing in the water. When we got to the water we discovered that the shore was no longer where it once was. The water was breaking a ways out on a sandbar and you had to cross a little patch of still water to get to the waves. I guess the hurricane changed things just a bit.

We didn't stay long. Malachi and my mom sat in the car (you can drive on this beach) and he got hungry and trying to feed him and chase the little ones just was not in the cards. The kids all napped on the way home and now I am putting them to sleep (with much resistance from Aimi Lark).

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
