A trip down memory lane...

When we went to Rock Canyon Park on Mother's Day it made me think back to when Jake and I were dating. I had never seen snow actually fall from the sky. I had seen snow on the ground that was left over once when we visited Washington D.C. Well when Jake and I were dating it snowed! It was Halloween 2003. He took me to this park to play in the snow. I realized a couple of things during that winter and they were 1. I did not like the sound the snow made when I walked on it and 2. I did not like snow flakes falling on my face so I would constantly be blowing and shaking my head to keep the snow off my face and eyelashes. Jake thought these things were extremely cute/funny and he still does because those things about snow still drive me bonkers!

My poor husband didn't even own a coat when I met him. When we dated he always wore the jeans he has on in this picture and a blue button up shirt and ball cap from is best friend kenny.
In this picture he is actully wearing his "hogi yogi" work shirt. He always made me the BEST, MOST AMAZING Philly steak sandwiches. He was and is such a sweetheart!

Below is a picture of him in his blue shirt and ball cap. This is from a bowling date (more like a dancing/throw the bowling ball as hard as you can date) we went on with Nate and Ashley and Kenny and Marlyse. Kenny and Marlyse didn't bowl on this date but we did get to meet kenny's date... MARLYSE!

  1. I love that you, like myself love to reminisce. Just think, you were enjoying your FIRST snow fall in October of 2003, and I was in my car accident that SAME day...so I was running from semi's and getting casts put on!! Funny how we can have memories on the same day, but totally different feelings!

I must've been in a daze meeting all these people kenny knew. that was so long ago. i remember that snow too, on halloween night in '03. I loved it. i dressed up as "miss south carolina" and went to the mall with kenny and sara. such fun memories...

Lincoln LOVES the sound of cruching snow. He will go out of his way to walk in the snow! (Gross, then it gets in your shoes and your socks get wet.)

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
