As my sister in law Ashley put it "Aimi Lark has a death wish" because today while I was making the bed she was playing on Jake's side of the bed and over there there are only books. Today she figured out how to open his nightstand drawer without me realizing and in a split second put just about every piece of military "flash" (lapel pins, ribbons, medals etc.) in her mouth! I looked over at her and she stood up and looked at me like a deer in headlights and opened her mouth and they all started to fall out. I tried to get them all out and as I did she made a swallowing sound and then burped... shortly after this she got the hiccups. I was not sure whether or not she had actually swallowed anything but I called Jake and then the Dr. The Dr. said to bring her in and he would order an x-ray to make sure "if" she did swallow something it wasn't "stuck" anywhere. We went to the Dr. and then to the hospital and the x-ray went well and she was free of "debris" and we were able to go home with a clean bill of health. I was so impressed because she just laid still on the table during the x-ray! Such a big girl!
(on the way home after the ordeal)
I told Jake today I think I am just going to have to stop doing chores and only watch her because every time something happens I seem to be in the room itself but doing something else... I don't know how to stop all these "incidences" or I don't know if you even can...

Oh NO! I have one of those children...sorry to say, in my experience, it has only gotten worse...hence Shaylee!! At least she didn't swallow anything!
ReplyDeleteWow...I bet that was quite the adreneline rush...I'm glad she is okay and that nothing went down. I don't think Hazel would of laid still for an X-ray. It sounds like Tricare really gives you some grief. Why are they so hard to deal with there, I never had a problem with them in Monterey? I am just curious since we might end up there someday.
ReplyDeleteCute girl! I would have been frantic, you seem to have handled better than I would have! Welcome to the adventure that is children! Soon they will be climbing trees and falling out of them and then you will need more x-rays! Joy oh joy....
ReplyDeleteJake, teach your children not to eat sharp stuff.
ReplyDeleteOh my word!!!!none of my kids have swallowed anything like that, but both of my kids have broken their arms when they learned to walk. Good times!!!! I am so glad that there was nothing in her.
ReplyDeletehahahah funny!! i am glad it all worked out though and I LOVE your new blog look!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad she's ok. That sounds scary.
ReplyDeleteWow! Zoe and I had a similar experience. I was sure she had swallowed a quarter because she was holding one, and then in the split second I looked away to get up and take it from her it had disappered - nowhere to be found. It's still a mystery to this day where it is, but thanks to an X-ray we knew it wasn't in her!
