a SURPISE for ME

When we went to pick up Jake from school tonight (which he sadly got out early and b/c my phone is crazy lately I didn't know he called me) he was standing on the curb waiting for me. In his hands he had a planter box. He opened the door to the truck and presented me with this amazing HERB GARDEN! that he researched, planted, and put together himself!(He then told me he felt like a little kid again who's mom forgot to pick them up after school)

Lately I have been expressing my desire to grow a garden. We only have a tiny porch/balcony on our third floor condo so space and sunshine are limited, as is my gardening experience. I do remember helping my Nana and Papa dig up potatoes, pick beans, shell peas, and snap beans and always wanting to pick the big ears of corn but that is my extent of gardening. (Unless you count snapping off the tips of my Grandma Sellers' aloe vera plant as "harvesting.")

Jake helped me to begin my "city" garden tonight and I am so pleased! I'll keep y'all all posted on just how GREEN my thumb turns out to be.

  3. I have such a brown thumb that I hope it isn't a hereditary thing, or at least from my mom's side, so it won't affect you! ha ha! Good luck with the herb garden and let us know how it turns out

  4. Hey fetcher, nice plants. I got your voicemail, I had already gone to bed. You said you were going to call again yesterday and didn't. If you would just get text messaging it would make being your friend so much easier/more fun.

  6. I've never really grown anything either, so I hope I don't kill the flowers I got for Mother's Day. They're only supposed to be watered once a week, so that's not too hard to remember. That'll been nice to have fresh herbs to cook with. My mother-in-law is a great gardener and can grow anything. I was impressed when I found out she just went in her backyard and picked some herbs to cook with that night. How convenient!

  8. That is so cool! I know just how you feel on wanting a garden. I have a little tree that is about 1ft tall. It kind of takes care of my gardening needs.
I know exactly what Jake means when he said he was reminded of when mom or dad forgot to pick him up after school.

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
