MY MOTHER'S DAY WEEKEND

(TONS OF PICTURES AND LOTS OF READING SO BE PREPARED)

THIS WEEKEND WAS ONE FOR THE RECORD BOOKS... IT WAS AMAZING!
SATURDAY MORNING WE SLEPT IN (I LOVE THAT MY GIRLS ARE SLEEPING IN!) AND THAT ALLOWED JAKE AND I TO SPEND TIME TOGETHER BEFORE THE DAY BEGAN. WE GOT UP AND WHILE WAITING FOR MADILYN TO COME OVER AND PLAY WHILE NATE AND ASHLEY WENT TO THE TEMPLE JAKE AND THE GIRLS PLAYED STAR WARS.
WHEN NATE AND ASHLEY GOT BACK WE HAD LUNCH WITH THEM AND ALSO JAKE'S MISSION BUDDY DEREK AND OUR FRIEND BETH. AFTER LUNCH THE BOYS TOOK THE BABIES BACK TO NATE'S TO CLEAN HOUSE AND ASHLEY AND I WENT SHOPPING. IT WAS SO NICE OF THE GUYS TO BABYSIT FOR US SO WE COULD HAVE A LITTLE MOTHER'S DAY GET-A-WAY.
SATURDAY NIGHT WE CAME HOME AND HAD A RELAXING EVENING. JAKE PLAYED STAR WARS AND DID HOMEWORK AND I MADE DINNER AND THEN WATCHED TV (SOMETHING I NEVER SEEM TO DO)

SUNDAY MORNING I AWOKE TO JAKE COMING IN OUR ROOM WITH BREAKFAST AND MALI SU IN HAND WHILE OUR SONG (REMEMBER WHEN BY ALAN JACKSON) WAS PLAYING SOFTLY IN THE BACKGROUND. HE MADE ME HIS SPECIAL EGGS SERVED WITH A TOASTED BAGEL AND A WONDERFUL "CARNATION INSTANT BREAKFAST" TO DRINK. IT WAS AMAZING! SUCH A SWEET HUSBAND.

(YES MARIANNE THAT IS YOUR TIE-DYED YOUTH CONFERENCE SHIRT FROM HIGH SCHOOL :)

AFTER MY AMAZING BREAKFAST I BEGAN CALLING ALL THE WONDERFUL WOMEN/MOTHERS IN MY LIFE. IT WAS NICE TO BE ABLE TO TALK ON THE PHONE... SOMETHING THAT IS HARD TO DO WITH BABIES.

I THEN GOT MALI SU READY FOR CHURCH AND PUT HER DOWN FOR A NAP. A BIT LATER I HEARD HER MAKING NOISES AND WENT IN TO CHECK ON HER AND FOUND HER ON HER STOMACH FIGHTING SO HARD TO KEEP HER HEAD UP AND SHE WAS COVERED IN THROW UP... POOR GIRL! IT WAS PITIFUL! SO IN SHE WENT FOR A BATH. I DON'T KNOW HOW SHE ENDED UP ON HER STOMACH BUT SHE HASN'T ROLLED OVER AGAIN. WE DID FIND HER PLAYING ON THE FLOOR ON HER SIDE LATER TODAY LIKE THIS...AFTER RE-BATHING THE GIRLS WE GOT READY AND HEADED OFF TO CHURCH. I WAS HAPPY TO BE WEARING THE NEW SKIRT I BOUGHT ON SATURDAY FROM JAKE FOR MY MOTHER'S DAY PRESENT. AT CHURCH I ENJOYED SOME TIME IN NURSERY WITH AIMI LARK AND WE DID "RING AROUND THE ROSY" AND IT WAS THE SWEETEST EXPERIENCE FOR ME. SHE NEVER DID THE "FALL DOWN" PART BUT IT WAS FUN TO HOLD HER HAND.

AFTER CHURCH WE CAME HOME AND HAD LUNCH AND WATCHED THIS MONTH'S LIVING SCRIPTURES VIDEO THAT CAME IN THE MAIL. IT WAS ABOUT CHRIST AND I LOVED WATCHING IT AS A FAMILY. WE THEN ALL TOOK A THREE HOUR NAP... YES A THREE HOUR NAP!

AFTER OUR NAP I WANTED TO TAKE THE GIRLS OUTSIDE SO WE WENT FIRST TO THE DUCK POND UP AT BYU CAMPUS. I THINK THOSE DUCKS ARE SERIOUSLY OVERFED BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT INTERESTED IN THE LEAST IN MY HOMEMADE BREAD! IT WAS LIKE CASTING PEARLS BEFORE SWINE.

(VIDEO OF AIMI LARK FEEDING THE DUCKS)
WE THEN WENT FOR A DRIVE AROUND TOWN AND ENDED UP IN SOME VERY "QUESTIONABLE" PARTS OF PROVO THAT I DID NOT EVEN KNOW EXISTED! I GUESS I HAVE LIVED A "SHELTERED" UTAH LIFE. WE WERE LOOKING FOR SOME HUNGRIER DUCKS TO SHARE OUR BREAD WITH BUT NEVER FOUND ANY SO WE HEADED OVER TO "ROCK CANYON PARK" BY THE TEMPLE TO LET AIMI LARK RUN AROUND ON THE GRASS. ("ROCK CANYON PARK" IS WHERE JAKE TOOK ME THE FIRST TIME I EXPERIENCE SNOW FALLING. IT WAS AN ENJOYABLE DATING TIME FOR US.) WHILE AT THIS PARK JAKE ENJOYED RUNNING DOWN THE HILL WHILE PUSHING THE STROLLER...QUITE THE SIGHT! THERE WAS ALSO A FAMILY WITH A SMALL DOG THERE AND IT MADE AIMI LARK REALLY EXCITED EXCEPT WHEN THE DOG GOT TOO CLOSE HE SCARED HER. WE ENJOYED OUR TIME AT THE PARK SO MUCH! I LOVED WATCHING AIMI LARK EXPLORE ALL OVER. I HOPE TO SOMEDAY HAVE A YARD SO SHE CAN PLAY IN THE GRASS LIKE SHE DID TODAY.

I HONESTLY COULD NOT HAVE ASKED FOR A BETTER MOTHER'S DAY. IT WAS A DREAM COME TRUE TO HAVE SUCH A WONDERFUL WEEKEND. I LOVE THAT IT DOES NOT TAKE SPENDING LARGE AMOUNTS OF MONEY TO MAKE MEMORIES SPECIAL. THANK YOU JACOB FOR MAKING THIS MOTHER'S DAY/WEEKEND TOTALLY UNFORGETTABLE!

  7. Sounds like you had a great Mother's Day too! I'm glad you're still getting use out of my youth conference shirt. I can't believe you all got a 3 hour nap!?! What are the chances? That alone would make a pretty good day. Sounds like y'all have some pretty rude ducks in Utah, not wanting homemade bread? How spoiled.

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
