The above quote is likely my favorite of all time. It explains how I feel deep in my heart. It makes me happy to read it and makes me analyze myself and wonder how I am doing at making that statement truthful in my own life.
Jake sent me this today and it brought me more joy than you can imagine! (I find myself looking at it over and over) He is in Hong Kong and when he went to attend church today he found out that once a quarter all wards meet by the temple. The temple is also open on this same Sunday one a quarter for a special purpose. There are many (Jake estimated about 500) women who work (as maids and such) in Hong Kong from the Philippines and Sundays are their day off so it allows for them to attend the temple. Jake was able to attend church but not the temple as you have to have a number ahead of time. Maybe next time.
I read this quote recently and it made me happy, it's true to me. I really think my dear husband is quite perfect. He does all these things and more.
When we went to Disney in July Mandi came with her littlest girls and we had a blast! I feel so blessed to be a Shillig.
As I mother alone and feel I have done a lot since the summer started I feel these two quotes could not be more true and weigh heavy on my heart. I told Jake that I feel like I am more capable in my career as a mother than I have ever felt. I do believe that my work is here, in my home, rearing my children. I struggle with feelings of impatience and inadequacies but times are changing, I am changing and so are my children. I feel we are all more at peace than maybe ever before. I feel we are on track to do great things!
Now when I read this quote I find myself torn from shouting a resounding, "YES!" (because this is TRULY how I feel about myself) and thinking "selfish" thoughts that the world tells you that you should be thinking. "You need time for yourself!" I feel like I hear that all the time and I know it's true, we can't help others til we help ourselves but what is wrong with my happiness truly coming from making others around me HAPPY. I love happy people. I love a drama free life and I am willing to work to make all those around me HAPPY. I choose to see happiness, I choose to be happy. Now yes I have bad days, we all do. I just think what they say about losing yourself in the service of others is a great tool in your happiness arsenal.
Well I better go recharge my batteries while these little ones nap.
We have a busy afternoon of back to school prep to finish.
School starts tomorrow, y'all!
