Jacob Shillig Comes Home Tonight

When I saw this photo on instagram (photo sharing social media) I thought about how I love that Jake is just like this. He asks our kids questions. He did it with my brothers as well. He is engaging when he speaks to others. I think I am more about survival in raising my children and I need to be more deliberate in my efforts with them and not just focus on making it til tomorrow with as much joy and as few tears and raised voices as possible. I should speak to my children more about what is going on in their little heads. I should teach them more. I love that they have their Daddy to pick up where I fall short. They are blessed to have both parents who love them (and love each other) in their corner.

Now back to putting the finishing touches on our home so we can bring Daddy home to a clean and unpacked house. We can't wait!

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween! Possibly ever! Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully. He even had the cutest song he sang. I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
