"Be the Mom you want them to remember"

"Be the Mom you want them to remember"

I read that quote last night and I can't get it off my mind.

"Be the Mom you want them to remember"

I even asked Jake how I was doing.
I've talked to him before about how I want to be with my children.  I have always thought about all the times we spent at BYU talking with our friends and their spouses about how they were brought up and they would share their feelings about their parents and upbringings.  I always loved the guys who spoke so lovingly about their mothers and how it seemed they could do no wrong.
I wanted to be that mother.
The mother my children spoke lovingly about.

Do I yell too often?
Am I fun?

Do I stress too much over the small stuff?
Do I read to them enough?

Do I get down and play or only observe?
Am I teaching them all the correct life lessons?
Will they look back on their childhood fondly?

I hope so.

I hope they know I am trying my best and hope each day I am doing a good job.

I am working on being the Mom I want them to remember.

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
