My Uncle Ivan passed away...

Charlotte Sellers Oldbury
My daddy joined my brother in heaven shortly after 5pm this evening. Our prayers were answered and he passed in his sleep and without pain. Thank you all for your prayers, love & kindnesses. Our family has felt your love and been uplifted throughout this difficult time.

My Papa has finally joined my uncle Travis in heaven!! For the past 15 years we have gone over "across the street" every Sunday to see him. I know he will still be with us in spirit as we continue our get togethers. It's been wonderful to move back home these past 6 months and spend time with him and I'm so glad Josh was able to work with him and have his own memories with Papa. Just last week I told him it was me by his side and he said "You're my favorite, Kayla". I will always be your Kayla Belle!

My Uncle Ivan passed away yesterday evening at the age of 67. He has now gone home to Heavenly Father and our Lord Jesus Christ and lived his life in a way that he earned the right to do so. Growing up he and his wife my Aunt Melba welcomed me and my siblings into their home and showed us kindness and love at a time in our lives when it was much needed. They had a house full of children of their own but the door was always open and a smile and kind words were seen and heard. Memories such as these have stuck with me my entire life and for that I am eternally grateful. I love you all and my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Words cannot express the love I have for my family. My daddy passed peacefully this evening with many of his loving daughters, his beloved wife and caring brother by his side. We have a loving Heavenly Father. He loves us so much that he has given us the opportunity to be families for eternity. I know Daddy is celebrating with my brother Travis and his parents and loved ones. I know I'll be with them again someday. I'm grateful for the peace the Gospel of Jesus Christ brings. Thanks to everyone for the calls, texts, messages and, most of all, prayers!

I am honored to have been the daughter of such a great man. My father joined my brother in Heaven today. I have seen many miracles and have peace knowing that my dad is where the Lord needs him most. I am glad i could be with him as he crossed over. He was the greatest man I'll ever know. Families are forever! Thank you again for the love and support. Your prayers are felt.

I would like to thank everyone for the prayers, kind words, & thoughts for my brother Ivan Sellers, I made it home and to the hospital and got to spend yesterday with him when he was not in pain and he had a good day. Today he was in pain again and after awhile his body was so tired he went to sleep and went to heaven . No more pain for this wonderful, kind man. Ivan was married to his high school sweetheart & for 50 yrs. they were together, 11 children & 33 grandchildren. Ivan will be missed by so many people but we will see him again someday. I love you Ivan so so much!

I am so grateful for the time I had with my dad. He was a great man. My family is amazed at how kind and helpful everyone has been to us through this rough time. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers as well. Till we met again daddy..

The greatest man I'll ever know left this world today. I'm so so sad. But I'm grateful for memories of him, especially from when I was little, like him taking me fishing and rocking me to sleep (which lasted until I was at least 15). I'll miss knowing I could always ask him for advice, his strength throughout his life and death, and the unwavering love he had for his family. My dad put his family first from the day his first child was born, and was willing to sacrifice anything for us. He loved my mom, his sweetheart, and we all loved him for that.
Last Friday night, the last conversation we had together he told me "Well, Kelly. You did it. I am so proud of you." I told him I was so glad he was there to see me graduate...
I love you, Daddy.

I always loved this picture of my Uncle Ivan.  I took it in July of 2009.  Malachi was a new baby and Jake was about to leave for LDAC (army training).  Jake drove me home to be with my family while he was gone and this was at one of the visits.  My Aunt Melba told me he loved to hold babies just like his Mama (my Grandma Sellers).  She even joked he would say something about not being able to help with this or that because he was "holding the baby."  Jake has pulled that one too.  What a blessing to have had such a great man in my life, to lead by example the way to be a worthy husband to his wife.  I have always looked up to my Aunt Melba for being by his side, always.  She has cared for him through the loss of his sight, and many other challenges.  I have definitely been influenced for good in my own marriage by their example.  The gathering of their children at the hospital made such an impression on my heart of what I want to keep working so hard for, an eternal, happy, and loving family full of kindness.

We love you, Uncle Ivan.

I will still remember you asking me in the hospital if Jake came with me

(and I thought to myself how you always wanted to play Mafia with him).

How you were joking about how I had "Smith and Wesson riding shotgun" as I drove through the night to see you last week.

How I complimented your wedding band as I held your hand and you told me it was just a plain gold band, but it was what it represented that mattered.

I'm grateful for the opportunity I had to tell you that I loved you, I was grateful to you for being worthy to baptize me and confirm me a member of this church, and how you told me you were so happy to do it.

I'm happy you did too.

Here are some pictures from my TX reception.  The things I wrote were fun to read as I reminisced.
I love how hysterically I am laughing over the flyers he brought me.  Those Sellers are funny people.

Some of the Sellers

Through all this my testimony in life after this one has grown.  My Uncle Ivan was ready to go.  He asked for no second opinion, he signed a DNR (do not resuscitate).  He knew without a doubt that what he would experience on the other side was better than what he was experiencing here.  What a testimony builder for me!
Families are Forever.

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
