in Tampa, FL on Saturday. After LOTS of traffic to get to the stadium we parked in some $10 area down a residential street. We thought the stadium looked closer than it turned out to be. We could hear that Jake Owen had started so we were power walking, IN NEW BOOTS! So we made it in time for Jake Owen to sing "barefoot blue jean night" and "8 second ride" but by the time we sat down it felt like I had just walked over HOT COALS, my feet were on FIRE.
The next act was Grace Potter. She is the one who sings with Kenny Chesney in his new song. She has a beautiful voice but her and her band should have been at Woodstock, total HIPPIES. No pictures of her, we went and bought t-shirts during her performance. She was not my style, but I was impressed that she played multiple instruments.
I love that my Mom has introduced me to the great world of live music. It's such a fun experience to go out with my Mom and friends to things like this. We did learn we like the amphitheater in Tampa versus this big ol' pro football stadium. I would go back here in heartbeat though.
We were "glistening" it was so hot. Luckily we had "club" seating and could walk around in the shade and there was a nice breeze the whole concert.
I loved our seats.
Tim McGraw was a great performer and a strong singer. He puts on a great show. I laughed though because it seemed he was walking away from the camera a lot and that said camera was focusing on his rear-end as he walked away. I was impressed with how clear and true to his albums his voice sounded. He also sang a great line-up of songs, none that were never heard of.
Kenny Chesney was a crazy performer. He ran around, hit his hat, slapped his knees, dropped to his knees, ran some more, stuck out his tongue, you name it! He was not as strong of a singer on stage but I say it's because he was so winded from running around putting on such a theatrical show. He was a fun performer. He definitely worked hard for the crowd and you could tell he was loving it.
At the end they played a cool fast paced slide show of these guys through time, starting back in their mullet wearing days. Then they co-sang Refried Dreams, Tractor's Sexy, and Indian Outlaw. I felt like they were making fun of each other by singing these sillier early days songs of theirs. It was super fun to watch.
Then all the performers came out and their bands. They sang "Runnin' on Empty" by Jackson Browne to close the show.
It was a PAINFUL walk back to the car, but we fought no traffic when we left so it was awesome.
Thanks, Mom, for a great (7 hour long) concert!
