Last night I remembered that Aimi Lark starts preschool the next day. I panic, read over her welcome packet, pack her lunch, and climb in bed all the while thinking, "what kind of mother forgets her daughters first day of pre-school?" I wake up and we get her and everyone excited to take Aimi Lark to school. We get there right on time and NO ONE is there, NO ONE. I look at the welcome packet and it says, "June 12" and here it is June 11. Her heart was BROKEN. Jake made up some story on the fly about school being canceled because of the storm last night. I'll have to fix that tomorrow so her teachers aren't like, "Huh? storm?"
We went to the gym (where I forgot my wallet with my ID to sign in the kids so Jake had to), ran errands with Daddy, and ended up having a good long day.
Tonight we were having FHE and it gets to the "activity" part and Jake yells out after a few seconds of thinking, "We're going on a family date to see Madagascar 3!" All the kids go crazy! I ask him on the way why we didn't just play "Simon Says" or something. He said it was all he could think of. I laughed and told him I knew he wasn't good at activities that didn't cost money. That's why he has a hard time when any holiday for me falls on a Sunday. So back to our night, we get halfway there and Jake tells Brody to read some scriptures on his phone. Brody's phone battery is dead so Jake reaches for his phone to give to Brody. It's not there and neither are his cards. I don't have my wallet either, I still haven't put it back in my diaper bag from our date night on Friday where I took a REAL purse. Brody doesn't have his either. We are all without money so we turn around and come home. The kids were sad, especially Mali Su. We're now watching the first Madagascar and they ate some donuts and Cheetos I found stashed in the pantry from their last "kid" date. I think they'll recover just fine from all this trauma.
Did I ever tell y'all that my sweet, kind, awesome husband folds/hangs up all our laundry and I put it away. He knows it's my LEAST favorite part of any and all chores so he assigned it to himself long ago. I just pile it in the chair as I wash and dry it, he watches some TV and folds and folds and hangs it up. I then come in and put it all in drawers, it's FABULOUS. I love him.
I emailed myself this quote during church sometime recently. I liked it.

So here's to tomorrow where Aimi Lark REALLY will have her first day of pre-school.

Ha! I love this. I can totally relate on so many levels. Hope your first day of school goes better than todays! Xoxo
ReplyDeleteI have had many of these days! My kids survived and I did too. Now it's funny to look back and reflect on these moments!!
ReplyDeleteHaha.. some days are just like that! I'm glad your kids have recovered from such a traumatic experience :) Ok, I loathe folding laundry and Justin always folds it for me too! I would rather dig through piles of laundry everyday to find something to wear than to fold it myself and put it away. Justin thinks it's the easiest chore in the world so he happily does it. I'm glad I'm not the only one who shares a dislike in folding clothes!
ReplyDeleteYou two are a good pair! Sounds like fun at your house!
