I love catching up with friends. The Webb boys always ran over to my house while in High School. They would run or bike over. Sometimes they would come in the middle of the night after climbing up a tall tower and hanging a bed sheet like a flag. Sometimes they would come over and hide after paint balling or "wrapping" a house (toilet paper). My house was the hang/hide out but was always good clean fun. I am so grateful for the high school experience I had. It was such a good one. I hope that my kids can have something similar but like my parents before me I know that times have changed and so have the atmospheres my children will find themselves in. It makes me sad to think about. I'm not talking about the invention of rock n roll music that worried parents to death back then, I'm talking bullying unlike any generation has ever seen. I worry for my children about being picked on. This is a new worry I didn't have last year. I pray and worry each day about this topic. I talk to them about it when they get home, hoping that each day like the day before they will tell me kids were nice to them. Kids can be so cruel, the world can be too. I hope to give my children the opportunity to become who they are without society influencing their self esteem too much. I feel like I am asking for the impossible. I don't want to raise my kids in a bubble but I don't want their sweet hearts to be irreparably damaged. I am grateful for my childhood friendships. Jake read those are the ones that last, they are the most like family.
Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.
