Mama's Getaway

My friend Katie (Meadows) had already planned to book herself a little getaway for a few night's at a resort here in town.  I asked Jake about going up to hang out with her one night after he got out of class and he offered to take off work one day so I could spend the night.  Thursday night after Jake got home from class I went up there (around midnight).  We ended up staying up ALL night talking and eating caramel apples and making ridiculous videos.
I think we reverted back to a teenager like state (Jake said it when I got home that he enjoyed seeing me rejuvinated and saw not just my wife/Mom side).
At about 5am we checked to see when breakfast was or the pool opened.  We thought about sleeping but couldn't and when we saw breakfast wasn't til 6am I said WAFFLE HOUSE.  It keeps me in touch with my Vidorian roots.  She had never been (and Jake doesn't enjoy going there) so it was perfect!
I got the pecan waffle and hashbrowns scattered, covered, and capped (cheese and mushrooms).
We ate all that yummy goodness.  We got back to the room around 6am and were up at 8am.
We went down to the pool but it was too chilly (who would think in FL).  We decided to head over to town for a bit.  We found our parking space at Kohl's and did a little browsing.
After that we made massage appointments for later that day and got manicures.
Next door to the manicure place was one of my favorite queso places (Tijuana Flats).  They give a military discount AND free queso refills.  It just screams somewhere I'd like to eat.
Then we headed back to the pool.  I never just lay by the pool but on this little getaway we laid by the pool, listened to music and swam (taking way too many underwater pictures).  It was so much fun!

We went up to the room and got ready for dinner and massages.  I think we took enough pictures with our phones to keep up with any teenage girl (I draw the line at bathroom mirror pics and duck lip faces).
After our massages we decided to check out the hot tub.  I feel like I never hot tub or swim or lay by the pool because I'm busy with the kids doing fun & active stuff.  It was nice to check out the more relaxing side of swimming.
Before I got to the resort Katie had sent me a picture of the menu item "krispie kreme burger."  We realized it was now or never to try it so we headed over and chowed down.  Surprisingly not bad.  The doughnut could have been fresher but it's not gross like you'd think.  We ended up giving her the donut and bacon and me the burger and mushrooms.

Getting ready for bed.  We did not pack these intentionally but just thinking about that concert is so exciting!

Waking up to head home way too early the next morning.  We were out the door by 715am (she had to get to Mom duties).  I grabbed donuts and surprised the family at home.  Jake couldn't believe I wasn't still in bed and was shocked to hear I felt refreshed.
I ended up crashing that afternoon after a family outing to Disney Quest at like 4pm and sleeping through the night.  He was right, I was on a sleep deficit.  I love that he knows me so well.

It was so nice to spend two nights recharging my batteries.  It was pretty much Friday that I was away but it was more than enough.  It felt fabulous to enjoy some semi-spur of the moment "me" time away (Thanks Katie!).  It felt so nice knowing my sweet husband was at home enjoying time with the kids and happy to have me be spoiled at the same time.  I love my marriage.

  1. Oh my dear, how I adore you.
I've decided a few things while catching up on your blog:

#1- I LOVE how much you write! You're funny, entertaining and I envy your dedication.
#2- I LOVE that you take so many photos of yourself. Granted, it helps that you're drop dead gorgeous! Really though, you may feel like it's silly, but again, I envy you and your determination to be a part of your children's photo memories.
and #3 (maybe not the most important, but certainly worth mentioning), I LOVE your hair this color. I mean, don't get me wrong..You're a knockout brunette, but this bright blonde color is fantastic! Merilyn Monroe has nothing on you, my dear.

Anyway, I just wanted to drop you a note and let you know how much I admire you. You're beautiful and I'm grateful I get to learn from you.
    Love, J'me

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
