We Survived!

(us after seeing the first showing of the day of Monster's University)

It was only 4 weeks.
No big deal in the grand scheme of things.
It was only 1 month apart, but we not only survived, I'd say we THRIVED!

Our time was full of 3 weeks of a visit with Aunt Delaney.
A trip to the Bippidi Bopiddi Boutique.
A trip to Hollywood Studios.
A garage sale.
A CARS car show at Downtown Disney.
Lots of playdate kid swaps and even a sleepover.
A trip to the bounce house place.
Way too many $1.99 Happy Meals.
A fun-filled week in Key West, FL.
Parks and Play Places!
Some time with my friends too.
Lots of swimming.
Plenty of hair appointments.
Preschool for Mali Su.
A doctor's appointment.
A trip to see Monster's University at the theater.
You name it, we probably did it!

One day on Skype with Jake I told him I felt like a bad Mom.
He's "bad cop" and I'm "good cop" typically in our roles at home.  While he's been away I've not done the greatest job at "bad cop" and know they walk all over me sometimes.
He told me after I told him he'd have done better over the last month alone than I did that the kids would have survived with him but not thrived.  He would have kept them alive but for sure not done all that I did with them and they would not have been as nurtured.

I feel like it was a long and short time apart all wrapped up into one.
I am so excited to pick up my in-laws tonight.
I am so excited/nervous/sad to leave tomorrow.
Today I started to tear up in the car as I cupped Aimi Lark's face in my hands and told her how sweet and beautiful she was and how much I loved her.
I will miss them so much but know that I will have the grandest time in China.
Jake has taken his final for his study abroad for law school in China, he's done.
Come Monday we will be reunited again!
(after my 24 hour layover in Toronto of course)

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
