Bishop's Storehouse

Mali Su is now asking continually for a pet frog.  She caught one today by the pool.  She was on top of the world the entire time she was holding it.  Then the inevitable happens, I make her let her creatures go (before she kills them on accident).  She gets so sad!
We went to the Bishop's Storehouse (our church has a place that those in need can go to receive groceries) today to volunteer.  It was a bumpy start finding the place, but we arrived.  A couple from our ward are missionaries there so yesterday Jake had asked them if he could bring everyone and they said, "YES!"  They told me they were more user friendly than most canneries.  The kids LOVED helping.  Jake stayed and continued to work with my Mom, Brody, and Blake.  I took the kids to run some errands after they ran out of kid friendly jobs.  It was wonderful to teach the kids about service and I hope to continue to teach them to serve others.
And, yes, to answer your question, Joby (my brother) did RUN back and forth gathering as many cans at a time as he could manage, he was like lightening.

Solomon LOVES walks.  He knows just what to do when it's time to go.  He runs over and gets his shoes.  The other day he got his shoe, put it on the floor, and then proceeded to step on it repeatedly as if that was going to put it on his foot.  He then brought it to Daddy and then sat down and tried to put it on his foot.  He's adorable.

Tonight Jake's class was canceled and since we were already out and about we stopped for burritos per the kids' request.  I am liking fast food less and less in my "old age."  It is odd to me because I used to LOVE fast food (even though I've always known it's unhealthy).  We rarely go in to eat, we're more the drive-thru type but since I cleaned the van today and the kids asked we went in. It was a nice little outing.
Poor Aimi Lark hit her forehead on the corner of the counter leaving an awful mark.  We got her all bandaged up and she and I cuddled for FHE.  I miss her while she's gone during the day.  I found myself having a little panic moment at the cannery today when she wasn't there, but almost instantly remembered she was at school.
It's 1AM so I figure I should try and fall asleep.  I think that nap I took today was just too good to let me sleep now.

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
