Malachi fell out of the wagon Aimi Lark was pulling him in and busted his nose and mouth on the tile, so sad!
I entered a photo I took on Facebook for a contest the spa I had my pregnancy massage is doing. I really want to win (don't worry there aren't votes, they choose, that's why I entered). I love being pampered, just don't love the price tag. Speaking of being pampered, I seriously need to color my hair. I've got quite a few more gray hairs than I had in the past. So many in fact I avoid pulling my hair up a certain way so the ones on my temples don't show. Thanks Grandpa Kirbow for going completely gray by age 25 (or so I hear).
Then he climbed up in my lap just now and fell asleep.
I'm already thinking about our family pictures we will take in the Fall. I am excited to have a family photo of all of us.
Recently I emailed Jake a list of "must-sees" for me in Florida. Well I looked at the list just the other day and we've pretty much done them all. I guess I better get crackin' on a more extensive and creative list...
I've realized that I want to start a family tradition of a husband/wife vacation and a family vacation every year. My cousin, Monica, told me they do this and I think it's a great idea. Jake and I stayed in a bed and breakfast in St. Augustine and then we went as a family to the Keys so this year is already taken care of but I'll admit I'm already ready for another getaway with just me and Jake.
I'm in love with my Google calendar that emails me reminders, I just have to remember to create an event. I'm trying to be a better secretary, especially with Jake's new busy schedule.
I want to join a gym so badly. I can't find the motivation to kick these pounds to the curb without it. The price for kid care at the gyms here in FL is absurd. They want PER child what Utah charged me for all mine combined. So if you live in UT, near a 24 hour fitness, WORK OUT THERE and LOVE IT. I am kicking around the idea of doing the Disney Half Marathon in January 2012, it's a little pricey $$$ so I'll see what I do.
Our squash in our garden has sprouted! It looks so good all lined up in its little row. Jake took us all out and showed us and he then said something along the lines of the whole garden being worth it for those seeds to grow. He likes to grow things from seeds not plants. He enjoys the kids getting to see the whole process (and himself I'm sure).
I'm working on being a little more "artsy" in my parenting with my children. I bought finger paints and play doh. Well that just makes it sound like I'm trying to be more "messy" with my parenting. I need to add more kid scissors and glue to the equation and we'll be all set.
Jake's covering the music department in our home. He lets the kids play piano and recorders. I heard him tell the kids that whoever played the piano the longest got ice cream (blue bell). Aimi Lark won but they all ended up getting some through other "tests." Mali Su sang a song LOUD (she's doing this whole not talk loud/whisper/act shy thing lately).
Having Jake home is wonderful. He's such a hands on, creative parent. See, he even puts on PUPPET shows! I told him that may have been my happiest moment as a parent, seeing him do that.
I sent out Beau's graduation announcements over the weekend. (thanks to Katie) He didn't go to his senior prom or graduation. In some ways I feel bad for him. He had no connection to this LARGE school that was quite foreign to him. He didn't want to go to prom because he said he didn't care to listen to the Rap and Latin music that would sure be played instead of country like in small town Louisiana. Then to go to graduation at 8AM with 1000+ kids, he said no thank-you (I'll admit this one kinda made me glad). I do want to get a picture of him in a cap and gown though, you know for documentation purposes. He said people could just come to his military graduations (there'll be plenty of those). I guess Illinois or Connecticut here we come...

Jake has drill this coming weekend. He got transferred to a unit 2 HOURS (instead of the previous 15 minutes) away which means he'll be staying the weekend in the barracks instead of coming home each night like we're accustomed to. I'm bummed and told him I want to come with him, maybe they have on base lodging? I could watch cable TV in the room all weekend??
Jake turned in the Pre-School form today. I know I can still not go through with it, but this makes it pretty official. She's so excited about "going to school." How does she even know what school is? Oh wait, her Dad has gone her entire life so I guess she thinks it's the cool thing to do. Just typing about her going is giving me an inner tiny panic attack, what's wrong with me?

I told Aimi Lark she would be going to bed after Duck Tales was over. I always forget they pack about 20 episodes on one DVD. Malachi and Mali Su are already asleep.
Jake has me all freaked out about the whole "cancer and cell phones" he read on CNN. I need to read the article myself because I've made a mountain out of a mole hill I'm sure.
Ok I guess that is enough rambling for one night. I'm going to go put in a movie, feed my baby (who is two months old today), and relax.

It's like I could hear your voice reading that...really fast :)
ReplyDelete1) You and Jake are both very, VERY crafty parents- kudos to you!
ReplyDelete2) Good luck with your photo contest!
3) Congrats to Beau- what a handsome guy! He's going to have every lady knocking on his door if he doesn't already, oh boy...
4) Love the pictures, and the rambles- makes us all feel a bit more "human" :)
