Monterey, CA (day 1)

We got to our room and got everyone bathed and they love wearing the "Jedi" robes at the hotels we stay in.  The next morning Aimi Lark and I went down for a little breakfast "date" alone and I loved spending that quality time with her.
This girl of mine is kind and always helpful.  I love her can do attitude when it comes to the things I ask her to help with.
"Will you unbutton my banana?" is the new thing Solomon says when he wants us to peel his banana.  I had to document the cuteness.
The kids get to take school work with them so that they are not counted absent from school on our little vacations/getaways.  Sometimes it feels like pulling teeth to get their work done, but I am so glad we have this option so that family can always come first.
I took the kids over to Fisherman's Wharf and they loved walking around.
I saw a boat named "Caroline" and took a picture of it in the harbor.
The kids were on the lookout for all kinds of sea life.  On our walk this day we saw
Southern Sea Otters
Harbor Seals
California Sea Lions
and lots of bird varieties.
The kids heard these California Sea Lions "barking" all the way from the wharf so we made our way around and along the water til we got to the end of the Coast Guard jetty to see them as up close as we could get.
On our walk the kids made a huddle and told me I couldn't hear.  I never did find out what they were planning in that huddle.
Then they took off their shoes and played around in the freezing cold surf.
The water in Monterey is so cold and because of that we bought wet suits when we lived there.  We still have those wet suits and used them when we swam with the manatees in Florida.
"Monterey Canyon, or Monterey Submarine Canyon, is a submarine canyon in Monterey Bay, California with steep canyon walls measuring a full 1 mile in height from bottom to top, which height/ depth rivals the depth of the Grand Canyon itself. It is the largest such submarine canyon along the West coast of the North American continent, and was formed by the underwater erosion process known as turbidity current erosion."

The kids didn't seem to mind the cold and played and played until Solomon fell and got wet and cried and cried and cried some more.
We grabbed our shoes and headed back.  I loved watching my two sweet boys walk together as Malachi tried to comfort Solomon who was angry that his pants were wet.
Monterey holds a special place in my heart and I loved the time we had to live in that beautiful place.  I am so glad we were able to bring the children back to visit.

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
