Jake comes home for dinner in between work and law school each day. Yesterday I felt terrible because instead of a relaxing, recharge his exhausted batteries kind of meal he had a meal full of Solomon pitching fit after fit.
He said he loved it. He told me afterward he loves family dinners, Family home evening, scripture study, family prayer, and family outings because he feels like our kids are already well into the digital world on their leap pads and he likes having time with them without technology. It was really sweet. Then he told me he wasn't going to class. I was shocked. He said he wanted to take the kids on a date. I told him that was perfect because Malachi had just asked the two days before if Daddy could take him on a date because he cleaned his room. (Jake is known to take each child on a date when they stand out for doing good) Mali Su says (in a broken hearted voice) pretty often when he leaves for law school, "why do you have to go? you just got home." I loved that he did this so impromptu. When he sat the kids down and told them they squealed and said, "THANK YOU!" for a good 30 seconds straight. I was in the other room just smiling to myself as the sounds of their joy filled the house.

Later on in the night Jake called me and happily told me they were having a BLAST, the kids loved it! I am so grateful for moments like this. Moments where the planets align and we can all get just what we need to recharge our spirits. I LOVE FAMILY!
Dad-dates ROCK!
