"Everything's gonna be alright"

So I'm at the gym, just finished a killer "kickboxing" style workout.  We're in the "cool-down" part and on comes the song "Every thing's gonna be alright" (Alicia Keys) and I have to fight the urge to cry.
Why you may ask?
Well I left for the gym that morning frustrated with Jake for encouraging me to go.  I wasn't mad because he said I should go, I was just upset because I feel like I'm always being pulled this direction or that, trying to keep everyone happy and keep up with every one's schedules.  It's my personality.  I am way too much of a people pleaser.  I feel this overwhelming need to take care of everyone and keep everyone happy.  I feel like I am continually falling short.
But like the song says, "I don't worry 'cause
Every thing's gonna be alright"

My garden died.  I didn't water it.  I guess I thought the occasional rain was enough?  I have a really hard time with how we Americans use water.  We use DRINKABLE water in our lawns and gardens.  I feel like we are so wasteful with water.  I really want to collect rainwater for my next garden, but make sure and not breed mosquitoes that way.

I realized I want to lose 40lbs, not 30.  I am feeling WAY discouraged.

I normally feel like we have too much stuff, but lately I feel it even more.  I feel the need for a major de-junking episode.  Now that we have a drive-way I want to have a little impromptu garage sale tomorrow.

I really love my husband.  I told him in a text awhile ago that he was the glue that held all this together and the oil that kept it running smoothly.  I truly believe that.  He is a really good man who puts up with a whole lot and takes on a ton of responsibility.  I am grateful for him.

Life is good, but sometimes pretty exhausting.

  3. Oh I love kickboxing. Keep doing it. So good for you! I thought about you today and your free child care gym. How awesome! I'd be paying close to $70 for any gym around here with childcare fees unless I volunteer and I so don't have 2 extra hours each week to volunteer for childcare as bad as that sounds!!!!! Hold on tight and keep you chin up. :)

  4. Oh Caroline! You are seriously one of my favorite people. I wish y'all lived next door. What's Florida got that Nacogdoches doesn't? Oh yeah, law school. :(

You and Jake are amazing and so perfect for each other. When I grow up, I want to be like you ;)

  6. You know, I think that you've become one of my favorite people through reading your blog. You're so honest and yet you have this incredibly positive attitude all the time. I think you are an outstanding mother -- I aspire to be as active as you are with your children! Don't get too down on yourself, you're doing a great job!

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
