because our anniversary is in 5 days.
Today I "ran away" with the kids to my friend Katie's house. Literally "ran away" ALL day so Jake could work on this appellate brief he has due all too soon.
When we got home we sent Jake on his way to school,
Beau left with the Navy recruiter for MEPS,
and Brody taught us the most amazing FHE (family home evening) lesson.
After the lesson we had our activity/treat of ice cream.
While we were eating ice cream I said,
"I think my phone is ringing, oh no it's not (as I looked at it on the desk)."
Then there is a knock on the door.
I open it to see a handsome man with three potted orchards on the ground behind him, lillies in one hand, and a raised cellphone in the other (picture John Cusack in the 80s movie Say Anything).
My husband ditched class to surprise "his girls" for Valentine's Day and a date.
He said even though we didn't celebrate it in the past he'd feel like a "dirt bag" if he didn't do anything for us.
So we got our flowers,
went to dinner,
and then all picked out some of our favorite movies at Wal-Mart to watch at home.
Jake just came and asked me what I did for him, umm nothing, I thought we didn't celebrate this holiday.
He said, "I win."
Made me laugh.
I think Malachi won, he's in bed and none of us are...

Oh wow! What a great surprise. You have such a sweet husband! The flowers were beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love it! I'm so glad you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day. Jake is so sweet and you absolutely deserve it since you're super sweet too!
