Last night we attended our first Dining Out with the Unit Jake will be a part of here in Florida. He will be in the medical section of an infantry unit when his transfer completely takes effect. We had a great time last night. I will say that leaving the MI (military intelligence) and Utah National Guard bubble was definitely an eye opener. We are in the "real" Army National Guard now.
Jake's company put on a show that had soldiers dressed up in period clothing to represent all the wars since the American Revolution. For each war they poured in a bottle of liquor to the "Infantry Punch." This was definitely a rowdy crowd.
Earlier in the night during the "mingle hour" I saw a lady walk in. I told Jake I wanted to look like her when I was older and at these functions. Jake then points out to me that her husband is a 2 star general. Man, I've got good tastes I thought. A beautiful classy woman and successful husband. She later talked to me and I was so impressed by her. They are stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC and I guess her husband was over this unit's last deployment, they just returned last month. We talked again later in the night and since Jake was gone to be some one's DD (designated driver) her husband took a picture of us. I just had to laugh when we sat down and we had blue wine glasses of alcohol and small glasses of tea. Good thing I like water in my lemon. We are no longer in Utah my friends.
Even though this was a more rowdy and colorful dining out I had an AMAZING time. It was seriously the most fun I've had in a long time. I loved that my green dress fit over my 32 week tummy I think the most though. Thanks Jake for our wonderful evening.

You are so beautiful! I love your dress and how great you look pregnant. I'm excited that you're going to have two boys and two girls. How fun for you!
ReplyDeleteSounds like y'all had fun! That was nice of Jake to be a DD.
