Jake is putting the kids to bed so I'm rambling

Today we got new pillows, some light bulbs, school supplies, and CHARMIN.  I haven't bought nice toilet paper in ages.  Before we moved I decided to be a cheap-o and buy the ridiculously humongous, lifelong supply of Costco brand toilet paper.  Jake convinced me today to go with the twice as expensive (but twice as worth it) Charmin.  Charmin is like clouds.  My mom always said you can buy off-brand of somethings, but not toilet paper.

Oh and school supplies.  I was so frustrated today.  I wanted to boycott buying supplies but Brody's grade depends on his 2-3" binder being
JUST. LIKE. SO.
So after getting dividers for 3.94 that I'm sure were .25 two weeks ago I was ready for a nap.
Next year when school supplies go on sale I'm buying two of everything, seriously, I will.
Someone will use them at some point.

Beau is at his FIRST stake dance tonight.  I was so excited for him, I thought back fondly to my stake dance days.  I had an awesome stake.  ORANGE STAKE!  To my very first one it was a Halloween dress-up one.  Marianne (my cousin/best friend) and I wore animal print belts.  We were cool like that ya know, too cool to dress up completely.

Speaking of Halloween costumes.  Today at Costco I realized I don't want to spend $22.99+ on a costume I do not love.  It didn't help that we were at Target before where the costumes were more like $30 and of poor quality.  I wish I was more of an online shopper because I'm sure there are good things out there.  I do always love the homemade costumes the best though.  I'm thinking this year I'll get adventurous...

Brody went on a canoe trip this morning with the scouts.  He said he swam with Manatees.  At first I was skeptical and then I looked up where they went just now and yep, it's true.  They didn't do this tour or anything but they went to Crystal River.  WOW!  Maybe we'll take a little swim out that way sometime soon...

Last week I was a little worried about church at 1PM.  Then I hoped and prayed we would have sacrament meeting first, I think it is easier that way.  The kids are reverent first and then get to sing songs, have a snack, and all that for the following two hours.  VERSUS, have fun in class then when you are tired and cranky you have to sit still for an hour or so.  Not to say my kids aren't still cranky with sacrament meeting at the beginning but at least I can tell them, you get to go to class after this, shh.  VERSUS, after this you get to go home and take a NAP.  But back to my point.  Tonight I realized I am thrilled for 1PM church tomorrow.  I can bathe the kids, paint the girls' toe nails, etc. etc. without stressing myself out and like usual looking not as put together as I would have liked due to getting everything else all set-up.  Bring on 1PM church tomorrow, YAY,  no pony-tail for this Mama.

Oh and I plan on sharing "I'm pregnant with baby #4" during "good news" in Relief Society.  Hopefully everyone will be excited since big(ger) families are kinda the norm in our (LDS) culture.  Lately, I get some AWESOME comments from strangers, they all assume I MUST be dreading this next baby since you know, I already have 3 so close together.  They cannot even imagine that someone would CHOOSE to have children this way.

Our ward is really great though.  My first impression was a good one.  Lots of variety in ages and cultures.  The primary and youth programs are a great size, good for both my kids and my brothers.  There is a large "Poly" population in our ward and Beau couldn't be more thrilled.  Lava Lavas and rugby players are right up his alley!

Jake is putting the girls to bed, I love him.  I am enjoying the quiet, just the sound of me typing and the dryer.

I forgot to say that the weird golf-ball lump on my throat is still there.  Not as painful but still goes from big to small randomly and leaves the weirdest taste in my mouth sometimes.  Don't worry though, our insurance still hasn't transferred so I can't have it checked out.  You know since the ER doc told me that if it wasn't better in 2-3 weeks to have it biopsied or something.  I am really grateful it isn't painful anymore.

Oh we hung pictures last night.  It has helped a TON with the echo and also making the house feel more like ours/a home.  Not a cold stark rental.  Here I found myself putting pictures in big collages on the walls (inspired by Marcinelle) because unlike in our condo here the rooms have big wall spaces to fill.  I also made my 6 foot Costco table into a dining room table with our four bar stools.  It raises to a height that is just perfect.  I don't have a table cloth on it yet but I think when I do it will be just that much more perfect, but for now I love it and it fills up the dining room area nicely.

Today is Chilean Independence Day.  I Googled (why is that not officially a verb yet?) a Chilean restaurant so we could celebrate.  There are NONE in Orlando, NONE.  I was shocked.  We have a Peruvian restaurant down the street and as I mentioned before all the restaurant-mobiles with their respective country flags and none are Chilean.  We were sad.

Brody's shoes got stolen today while at his scout activity.  We had been meaning to get him to the mall to buy him new shoes and boy am I grateful we hadn't got around to it quite yet!  Who says procrastination sometimes doesn't pay-off?  He said he left them with all the other stuff and when they returned his shoes (Nike Shox) were gone.  We got them on sale for him LAST AUGUST.  We are so proud of him for keeping them nice, not loosing them, and wearing them for a whole year+.  We took him and got him a new pair of shoes tonight.  They had a cool pair of red and silver Nike Shox on sale and with our military discount at Foot Action I was pleased as punch.  I did however tell him we are no longer in Provo so PLEASE do not remove your shoes anywhere, for any reason!  I will be buying both boys new flip flops to wear to any activity that might require them to remove their shoes.  Then any thief is welcome to their $1.50 flip flops from Wal-Mart.

Jake has his first law school test on Monday.  He doesn't seem too worried so after my initial panic I calmed myself down, I know he can do it.  Speaking of law, our friend Kenny passed the UT Bar!  I am so excited to hear where they will be stationed!

I really shouldn't be allowed to sit at the computer with my thoughts for this long.  I'll ramble all day! I mean night.
2/3 are down, only Aimi Lark to go, Beau to get home from the dance, and I'll be in my comfy bed!

Night y'all!

  2. I'm jealous about the poly population! I told Nate before we moved that I hoped we moved into a Polynesian ward because I so love those people!!! They are my favorite patients and would be the funnest friends! My high-strung personality is not anything like their's and maybe they could get me through this rough time in our lives!!!

  3. I'm a Charmin Ultra snob, too. It just feels so luxurious to have nice toilet paper.
You are amazing -- with your little kids and your brothers. Does Beau go to early morning seminary, or do they have released time?
Miss seeing y'all around the office. "Things" have gotten much better - Jake will know what I mean. Love love love the new boss.

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
